Best case for watercooling

hi all,

i'm searching a case for watercooling.. i saw tj07 that is well used for high end systems, but i saw also the new obsidian dradon d800 is quite good..
personally i prefer the radiator under the components like in tj07 because it can get cold air from outside, in the obsidian instead, the air is taken from inside, and is not really cold..

what about others cases?

what do think? the budjet is not a problem, (but not over 400$ lol!)

i'm very indecided

Is this for the build in your sig, or are you doing a new build? It's not a big deal having the rad mounted in the upper part of the case.

A TJ07 is a great case for doing dual loops in.

Cosmos S is still a great case.

Mountian Mods are great watercooling cases too.

There are some Lian Li that work great also.

How much are you trying to cool? I've seen tiny cases like the Lian-Li PC-V351 with internal WC gear. I'll assume since you mention the TJ-07 and the 800D that you're looking for big cooling. Have you looked at any Mountain Mods?

EDIT: Beaten due to being distracted at work. I agree with millertime. Check the Worklogs if you want to see specific cases.

Coolermaster ATCS 480 is good also and is not that expensive in comparison.

you can watercool with almost any case. it depends on YOUR TASTE, components (number of HDD’s …etc), what you want to watercool (CPU, GPU, NB, SB, Memory) , and how you want to do it (internally, one loop or more ..etc), and your modding skills (replace the TJ07 120cm fan with a 140cm one, add extra fans at the top…etc).

Lian Li V2000/ABS Black Pearl are also wonderful cases to water - cool; limitless potential if you like to mod stuff. Always a good starter case if you can find one

ok, i would like to wc a NEW build: one cpu(i7), one motherboard ( idon't know if only the chipset ore full mb) and finally the graphic card, all this things in one loop.

i thought for a tj07 with a quad radiator 120mm fans(enermax cluster). I would like to integrate all in the case, nothing out the case. I think that tj07 is convenient beacuse i don't have to do a lot of mod, only fix the radiator and go..

for lian li case, at least i have to cut the alluminum, take measures etc..

i have seen also mountain mods, but i can't get a case like ascension or ufo, they are too large!! Pinnacle is quite good, but like for others cases, the radiator is mounted or on top( and it will take hot air from inside) or in front of the case( and it will put hot air inside the case). i think that Tj07 is better.. but i don't know if exist others cases like that, with the possibility to fix radiator under the components..

if I could personally choose my case again i'd go obsidian for the simple fact of the epic wire management they got etc..

I recommend the ATCS 840 from CoolerMaster. I have done zero modifications and can fit without problems a 360 and a 240 radiator internally.
I even used the default 240mm fans at the top, and made a shroud out of cardboard, zipties and duct tape to support the 360 beneath.

I love the TJ-07 but the thought of paying almost $400.00 turned me off real fast

You should look into using plasticard to build a shroud

Nearly the same case like the TJ07 but much cheaper

Your not going to see a huge temp difference vs mounting the rad in the upper part of the case or the lower. You also have to remember you have a PSU sitting in the bottom of the case with your rads. As long as you have proper airflow through your case it won't matter.

I second the Obisidian. You can run a dual loop with a 320 up top and a 220 on the bottom with some simple modding. There is a build log of one with plenty of photos of how to do it. Its has a black powdercoated chassis and the cable management looks insanely nice. Its also almost half the cost of the TJ07.

internal quad radiator is something you do with a tri-SLI setup (second loop)

It’s not like the more components you watercool and the more loops you put the more beautiful you rig will be, this will explain…

btw, with all respect to the old legendary TJ07, the Obisidian quality and interior is superior and if you decide to go with smart solutions like what millertime359 mentioned go with Obisidian for it's quality and price.

As folks have said, any of the cases mentioned will work.

I'm torn between the TJ-07 and the new Obsidian. Love many of the ideas in the Obsidian, but prefer the sleeker look of the TJ-07. Still waiting for the perfect case ...

I don't think you will ever see the "perfect" case. IMO, the only "perfect" case is the one you build. Unfortunately, not everyone has the ability to do this.

+1 on your views about the case
but i'd choose a TJ07 as a primary rig case aluminum beats the hell out of steel

and also the fact im simply loving my TJ07

and owh....... Lian Li V2010b has very little room for cable management behind the motherboard tray
so please look into it before you consider getting it as compared to TJ07

yes tj07 is a very nice case.. i was looking around for the v2010, is cheaper, and with a bit of mod it can offer a wide range of solutions (one dual and triple loop..)

for example i love this systems, ( i don't remember where i've found the photo, maybe is one of yours rigs!)

it can host 2 triple radiators, and u have to cut of the side pannel in the lower part to get the holes for the airflow.( i prefer a closed case..)

Never seen that before...wow
But still you will have to cut the side panels for the vents
And if you are like me.... you might just end up making a minor mistake while measuring/cutting......
And there goes the sidepanels to waste
Thats if you are planning to make a near perfectly design vent

Look into CoolerMaster as well, not quite as high end as a Lian, but they do put some water cooling thought into their designs. The ATCS 840 is a good case, plenty of room -- here is a build log of one such case: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=236379 and another one here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=233988 , also a more 'bling' oriented gaming case is the HAF 922 (a mid tower, so the loop would be compact), and the Cosmos S is also a good one.

All the cases suggested above, though, are great cases. I am looking into an MM myself.
