    New Swiftech Full-cover waterblock for GTX285 released

    Introducing the Komodo full-cover waterblock for nVidia® GeForce® GTX285 graphics cards (P891 reference design)

    The Komodo water-block offers superior thermal performance at the GPU level thanks to an embedded thin-pin matrix located directly above the GPU area. Flow restriction is moderate by design in order to take into account multiple water-blocks in the same loop, and is similar to that of the classic MCW60 (See pressure drop vs. flow rate curve below).

    The base is made of chrome plated electrolytic copper, and the top is machined in black Delrin. High thermal conductivity grease pads are pre-applied in the memory and mosfet areas for user convenience. Short barb fittings are included with the block for 3/8" or 1/2" tubing and compatible with dual or triple SLI setups.

    Working on it. We've always been reluctant to machine acrylic due to cracking problems. Were'looking into polycarbonate.

    I really think that would look amazing in acrylic.
    It's the only thing that keeps me going to Ek blocks, but if other manufacturers push stuff out in acrylic, I'd certainly buy other blocks.
    That being said, thats a very nice block.

    What kind of compression fittings compability? Looks to me maybe even 3/4" could fit?

    Great job Gabe. I love the way the top forces water down across the pin matrix, cpu style cooling for gpu's very cool - literally. I would love to see it with a clear top to, the black top looks to industrial for me and its a crime to cover up that pin matrix.

    I wish more companies did this. Especially for my 4870x2, cutting all the pads for the Vregs and memory chips was a royal PITA.

    For dual or triple SLI, this type of setup is recommended in single cooling loop configurations (CPU and GPU in the same cooling loop with one pump). Use of the included 1/2" barbs is recommended for connecting the water-blocks in SLI, even if the rest of the system is plumbed in 3/8".

    very nice....what kind of underload temp one can expect from this block? assuming running one card in a single loop.

    could be a noob question but why parallel is better for single loop solution (CPU + GPU)? isn't that a flow killer? also how exactly this parallel works compared to the heat killer gpu parallel bridge setup?

    Wicked cool looking block. The internals on the GPU look very nice from the diagram. Will chrome be the only option or will the standard copper look be available as well?

    Very nice Gabe. Like the pin matrix as well. People who use dye will have to watch this though as it will be another area to clean up once the fluid goes clear in the tubes.

    It's a flow killer for the GPU blocks, but it increases the flow rate for everything else, most importantly the CPU block.
