Prometeia Mach 2ST - can we still name this as a mod ?!

    Hello

A long time ago Symon first asked me about modding his Prometeia Mach 2ST unit which he had had standing in his
house ...not working . Unit was moded sth around 2 years ago - new evaporator with enclosure, R507 refill,
desuperheater added, new suction line, new insulation . Unluckily later unit start to leak somewhere- I don't know
where and when, owner don't know too, but final is that now prommie has difficulties to reach even O*C .

First plan was to mod it for waterchiller but I advised that prommie case is too small to fit big condensor needed
to build good waterchiller (and IMO all cases which are sth like 50 cm long and 25 cm wide are too small to fit
good waterchiller inside them) . So we end up with plan of just "re-modding" old mach 2 ST .

So plan of mod first says about staying stock case, fans, evaporator, and compressor - I plan to change condensor
for bigger one, make longer suction line, mount temperature display etc. ...soon I checked that Unseen's Cube
condensor is WAY too big to fit on stock Mach2 case (this condensor is more than 3 times bigger than stock mach
condensor) . So I've decided that case must be changed too . Luckily I have at home laying from quite long time
Unseen's case . Symon decided that He want "apple green" color of case and some white CCFL inside case (due too in
stock Unseen's case have plexi window) . So I've resprayed it for color "Gelbgrun" RAL6018. I'll add Eliwell EM300
    temperature display .

Finaly from stock Mach2ST left ONLY compressor (with oil changed to fresh and capacitor for brand new) ! (remember
first plan was only "moving prommie to life again") LOL .

    Specs :

    Compressor: Danfoss NL11F
    Evap: Jan's evaporator
    XV: captube 0.9 mm
Condensor: Unseen's big Cube cooled by Scythe Ultra Kaze 120x38 mm, case dimensions 480 x 225 x 230 mm
    Refrigerant : R507
Case : Unseen's case, resprayed to color "Gelbgrun" RAL6018
Others: Revoltec CCFL dual 300mm kit white color, Tt Thunderblade 120x25 mm with RED LEDs on back of case (light can be switched off), Eliwell EM300 controller

Pack which Symon sent me .

I've wait 3 minutes ...and I saw this only (ambient temp 4C) .

    so ....

Maybe one day I'll connect those 2 things . But now they're standing on shelf in mine garage.

After some painting work I decide to unmount rest of prommie :

Well, IMO it's not good idea to hold braiding of suction flex line in that way .

This show that prommie's case in fact is too little for any mods ;/ .

This won't be useful anymore .

Looks like capacitor of NL11F had small leak also - will be changed for brand new one.

Oil will be changed for fresh Fuchs Reniso SEZ22.

New braze (with fresh 0.9mm captube) of old Jan's evap - staying from previous prommie mod .

unseen's case have place for gauge - so it'll be mounted of course . I check it for leaks .

Side of condensor are now black - rest will be in "natural" colors .

I stop now because I've run out of silver 40% brazing rods .

    With Kindest Regards,
    Peter

    Thanks

    hehehe idd

yeah the other mods i did was with a copper piece around the flex, then its mutch stronger. Now the weak place keeps the same.

And brazing Stainless steel wasn't easy with the small torch i had back then.

I sold all my equipment 2 years ago, no time and place anymore.

Your still doing a pritty fine job ! i envy You, i hoped that i build a cascade once but i didn't have the time and the place for it

    Good luck !!

Is it an option to attach the Vacuum gauge to the service port while vacuuming? Would that work as well?
I would imagine that then the stress on the vacuum gauge will be al lot less.

Final temperature unloaded (unluckily eliwell doesn't show lower than -50C ),

and loaded @260W after 1 hour of testing

Bad news is that now (and during next 2 weeks) I have trully a lot of learning for studies, exam sesion is comming .

Wow, beautiful craftsmanship and excellent brazing skill! I totally suck at brazing, but I can arc weld and do almost perfect circles with a plasma cutter

Thanks For me very important is good brazing sticks - for connections danfoss compressors-cooper pipes I use 40% silver brazing rods with flux . For me 3-5% Ag doesn't give nice brazes there. Danfosses' ports are steel and that's problem .
