That's a bit low for very high and Vista 64. I got ~40fps with the cpu clocked at ~4500Mhz (shouldn't make a 10fps difference). Are you using the 8.8 beta's ?

This is all based on 2 x 4870 = 4870x2 -> same performance. If not then sorry for intrerupting

Those are the 8.80 beta scores?

Impressive, but 1680 x 1050 is too low, my overclocked GTX 260 with 3.60ghz Q9450 is very close to that.It needs 1920 X 1200 minimum.

If you get time could you test Tomb Raider Legend with next gen on, I would appreciate it very much.

Nice one mate. Also try running with a higher fsb and mhz on the cpu if you can to try and remove as much bottlenecking as possible

How loud is the fan underload? What are the load temps, some reports saying the 4870's are super hot.

mascaras: Thanks for posting those results so far.
One final request with your Crysis benches. Can you run the same again with 16*AA and/or 16*QAA. The majority of reviewers are too scared to run Crysis with the AA & AF cranked up, though apparently that is where the 4870X2 really shines.
Try: Crysis DX10, Very High, 1920*1200, 16*QAA & AF and post up your results. There may be less of a performance hit than you think

The ClubOverclocker review has been the best at testing the 4870X2 under AA so I'd be keen to see another impartial bench. Much appreciated

Mascaras: you should do the Assault_Harbor test, which is a complete system test. GPU test alone is not reflecting the game.

Mascaras, congratulations on the review so far!
Have you noticed any visible signs of microstuttering in Crysis at 1920x1200@very high with AA4x enabled or in any other tests?

So far i only tested Crysis "in Game" with 1680x1050 @ Very High @ AA 4x

In Crysis has the usual breaks when Saving game or Big explosions/lot of action ( game runs pretty much like 9800GX2 ) not like the HD3870X2 or HD3870 CF when FPS drops from 40fps to 5/10fps , with 4870X2 there is no FPS drop like that !

    Nice report Mascaras

Crysis numbers are far above what some other sites posted, i wonder if a driver issue. IE Tweaktown report 2 x 4870x2 1920x1200 VH = 21fps.

From the pre-release demos i saw, this card didn't do too well in crysis against the 280 (I think the crysis engine is sloppily coded). Do you think you could run some cod4 tests, and maybe test fps on a source engine game for fun/high numbers?

I am really thinking about buying this card tonight.

    Nice report Mascaras

Crysis numbers are far above what some other sites posted, i wonder if a driver issue. IE Tweaktown report 2 x 4870x2 1920x1200 VH = 21fps.

with catalyst CD Driver ( bundled with card) i also had "bad" performance , but then i installed catalyst 8.8 beta and its really better

1680x1050 Very High = 32 fps ( Catalyst CD driver)

    1680x1050 Very High = 39.5 Fps ( Cat 8.8 beta)

    1680x1050 Very High + AA 4x = 36 Fps ( cat 8.8 beta)
