When were these supposed to be launched again? Early December? I might as well wait for these ones and just grab one quickly at launch instead of waiting endlessly on a 8800GT if I can grab one for below 300 EUR. Looks like this card will come very close to or beat even a Ultra depending on game and resolution/IQ settings at stock clocks. Retailers gets more love from Nvidia... 8800Ultra & GTX sales have pretty much stalled thanks to G92.

Like the idea about dual slot cooling so it won't be necessary to buy a 3rd party cooler to save a few $$$.

Yup, supposed to be start of December with a refreshed GTX end of Dec.

I bought the GT as in interim solution, which replaced my other interim solution (640 GTS). I'm supposed to be holding out for the completely new GTX - the 9800/ati whatever it may be called (which ever is better).

tbh the gt is already begining to struggle @ 1920x1600 with everything on max, contemplating CF 3870 as nvidia chipsets suck...

It will have 32 TMU units and most likely 24 ROP's (if that one set ain't disabled for some reason). In that case this card would have 6,2% higher texel & pixel fillrate compared to 8800 Ultra. ALU-performance would be 8,3% higher than in 8800 Ultra

Lets wait and see if this is correct though. But if it is... woot!

Does this equate to the card being 20% faster than the gt?
If so, that means instead of the 16fps on very high in directx10 crysis, I will get 19.2fps

I'm 100% positive the 8800GTS 512mb doesn't have 24 rops. Allow me to break it down, for those who don't know why I'm so sure of this.

NVidia's way of handling memory controllers is very simple. Rops are coupled in groups of 4, and every group has their own 64bit memory controller. Take the 8800GTX for example, 6 groups of 4, 6x64 = 384. GTS 640/320, 5 groups of 4, 5x64 = 320.... The G92 has a 256bit memory controller, meaning 16 rops(4 groups of 4, 4x64 = 256), unless NVidia COMPLETELY redesigned their memory controller setup, which is doubtful, seeing as how the 8800GT still follows the group of 4 math.

There is no way you're going to see 24 rops on this part. I'm sorry guys, but that's just the way it is.

yep , i also think its the same specs as 8800GT "only" with +16 SP & Dual slot cooling

if its realy 650mhz core (means same vGPU voltage , i was hoping for more voltage & clocks)

if its realy 970mhz memory ( means the same 1.0ns GDDR3 used on 8800GT , i was hoping for more)

but if the price = 299$ i think its a very good deal (+ 50$ than 8800GT for + 16SP and dual slot cooler)

AFAIK there is no GTX remake, they're going straight to the next high-end.

This will probably the card I will get after all , since I'm moving to 1920x1200 resolution and the 8800GT can't quite cut it at that resolution. Hopefully it will come in large quantities and with Crysis bundled ^^.

mate DX10 is in early stages and support for games is low, imagine how support for DX10.1 is.

I mean is nice to have the support but real games for now wont benefit much

By the time we see DX10.1 in use, current cards will be too slow to use it anyway.

DX10.1 doesn't even officially release until next year, with Vista SP1, and ontop of that even microsoft has downplayed it's importance. By the time it's released though, we'll have NVidia's next generation of cards.

man, if you were an uninformed customer and u went to newegg to buy a new video card...

    http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...me=Video-Cards

id say 99% chance ud make a horrible decision interms of price/performance

ati and nvidia..especially nvidia, have really F8cked up there video card lines(interms of organization) and made even for the informed customer to re-read the specs and have to look up performance benchmarks to double check there decisions.

    hmm am i gonna buy a 3870 for $219 or a 2900xt for $389?

im super cereal here guys! fix it

It's completely a possibility they decoupled them.

Going back to 256-bit gives them the freedom to go back to the crossbar quite easily, so I wouldn't make any assumptions about this.

Call me crazy, but I'm going to stand by my statement on this one.

I just really doubt they'd go through all of that for a die shrink.

    32 TMUs don't make much sense... Even G92GT has 56 (56 TAUs & 56 TFUs)...
