Sapphire Drastically Reduces Price of HD 2900 Graphics Cards

Sapphire Drastically Reduces Price of HD 2900 Graphics Cards on Newegg

It seems as though Sapphire is having some sort of sale, offering their entire stock of HD 2900 graphics card either at a discount, or with free shipping. Get them while they are hot:
    • 2900GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3: $170 + shipping.
    • 2900Pro 512MB 512-bit GDDR3: $250 shipped.
    • 2900XT 512MB 512-bit GDDR3: $280 + shipping.
    • 2900Pro 1GB 512-bit GDDR4: $300 + shipping
    • 2900XT 1GB 512-bit GDDR4: $340 + shipping.

These are the prices that we should have seen around launch time.. I imagine AMD would have sold a few more 2900's with these prices.

    for ati cards...

and actually technically id rather have an XT because they overclock higher/better than pro, so the XT is a great choice for that price point.

Not, surprising, but the hd2900xt needs to be lowered to 200$ to be competitive with nV..

I too noticed this as I did a WTF double take when looking at the XTs (just browsing) and noticed the price drop ... well there will be a lot of Diamond cards left at the egg, that is for sure!

I wonder if this means saphire is worried about g92, or that the r680 will be coming out soon

I doubt that, the rv670 line up is independant of the r600, as they are "performance"products whereas the r600 lineup (well, really just the xt) are "enthusiast", if anything it has to do with the r680 which replaces it, or g92 spanking it

Hmm, I'd think that it was to unload them before the launch of the 3870 esp. The rumor are that it will be around 10% quicker then the 2900XT and at a lower price point, who's going to buy the 2900XT. Sell as many as you can at the best price possible before the market totally bottoms out on them.

thats like how the p35 wasnt going to affect teh 975 chipset its not going to happen the stats on the 3870 are better than the 2900xt and it has almost the same memory bandwidth
