This card looks virtually identical to FGL7600.

I hope for 825MHz on core from this sample so we can see worst case scenario of upcoming HD3870 .

    Waiting for your results ZoLKoRn!

The cooler looks similar to the XT. So its smaller than the XT? Anyway this card is weird. Thanks for the info.
Seems we made our greatest error when we named it at the start
for though we called it "Human Nature" - it was cancer of the heart

I think some people are forgetting that the HD2900GT is just the failed 2900XTs
with 1/4 of the stream processors disabled (so they have 240) and possibly
lower clocks, just like the 2900Pros.

but the r600 is still the fastest chip (mostly since it dose corssfire and intel is ahead of nvidia in chipsets) and if u can get 2 of those for $300-350 that would be a great combo especially if u could unlock those missing shaders but in most games u can only use about 130 shaders so u wont see a hit from that and if there is a 512mb ddr4 slightly more that would be a killer also

lol zanzabar, you make me laugh. I think the 8800GT will kick the crap out of this card considering how it holds up again fullblown 2900XT. Even though there might e a $40 price discrepancy, the performance jump is huge. Stop gap card until the 55nm series launches.

this card looks more like it going to be competing with 320MB 8800GTS or 8600GTS. The XT gets trampled by the 8800GT so this thing has no chance in hell.

lol trampled , about as much as the gts's doo , and its a new architecture , it would suck if it didnt have an improvement over last gen cards , the gtx is over a year old and it still holds tops , so...the gt gets rampled on by a one year old card?

I agree with Scubar, this will sit between the 8800GTS 320 and the 8600GTS, which when you think about it, is a huge gap.

Priced at ~£130-£140, this could be a relatively successful card. It's about time everyone realised that card performance is completely relative to price.

I've hated the way the 8800GTS 640 started at around £300 here, dropped to around £250, hit £200 about couple of months before the HD 2900 XT was launched and now it's back up at £250+.

    Competition FTW

ur missing my point that card if it was under $200 would have about a $60 discrepancy from the gt but it could in 2 weeks when the hd 3k comes out drop to $150 making it the only truly midrange budget card (the his is $200 rite now on ncix)

also since its a 2900 it should come with orange box so it would make it $150 if u were going to buy the games, witch is killer

and some1 should put it on agp im waiting for the nhilem but its killing me not havening grafix choices for agp

Your forgetting that the only reason nVidia havent released their more powerful card is because the GTX and Ultra havent had any competition from the pitiful 2900 series. IF there was competition we probably would have seen the 1TFlop monster card by now. nVidia can still make plenty of profits by selling off a card thats a year older now, cheaper to make and still holds the performance crown.

Only 240 (48 real) shaders and 256mbs of ram, and it still costs $195? I'll pass. They need to bump the ram up to 512mb and drop the price by $50, then it'll be a really interesting card.

Yeah, the 8800GT is a much better deal than getting this gfx.

My thoughts exactly. The 256MB 8800GT will be priced similarly anyway (perhaps a little more) and I'm sure it will outperform the 2900GT looking at these specs.

now if they made a card like this on 55nm with these specs for say $100:
    240stream procs
    600mhz core
    1600mhz mem
    256bit
    single slot cooler
    512MB GDDR3

that would be the ultimate budget card.

It does outperform the 2900GT, by a significant margin.
