people dont say it much anymore except those DFI boards, but you should always reset the cmos with the jumper after a flash, its the best way to clear out any old settings.

On October 12th you posted that the D9 problem had been solved and to expect the new bios in the next week. I guess you will say that you meant the beta bios, but it sounds fishy to me. For the record though, everyone hopes you are right.Originally Posted by bingo13

Well, people were saying the F8a beta fixed the D9 issue. I am running F8a on my S3 and I'm exactly where I was with the official F6 bios for the S3. Same wall at around 455. I hope the final version is truly the fix, but I'm not holding my breath at this point.

It was fixed in the F8B on 10/23, only issue was that the PCI-E lock did not work correctly so your hard drive image was subject to being destroyed.Originally Posted by JPH1589
The F8D fixed the PCI-E issue but broke the X-FI recognition again. The F8F I have been using the last couple of days works correctly and if QA passes it this evening (tomorrow morning Taiwain) then it will be released. If you do not want me working on these BIOS releases with Gigabyte then just say so, hate for anything to sound fishy.

I am testing the BIOS currently. It will be released first for the DS3 and then the S3 next week. The next release still needs some fine tuning as not all D9 based modules perform the same. My current range is 7x485 to 7x505 with a wide variety of D9 modules.Originally Posted by FirePhoenixCtk

and have you tested on a divider.
some boards get flaky on a divider, which makes it impossible to reach 1000mhz for many people as their FSB wont even hit 450 let alone 500.
and you heard anything on the C2 boards ? i would have hoped that most US shops would be carrying the C2 DS3 by now.
and YES we want you to test these bios's and help everyone out.
same with kenofstephens.
all your help is greatly appreciated.
without you guys ... ugh i dont even wanna go there

I'm anxious to see the new beta bios for my DS3 - I just got some 10th Anniversary memory myself. Haven't messed with it much but currently @ 430 4-4-4-10 2.2v on 8x with my WEAK 24 e6600. I'm only had the memory for a day so i haven't messed with it much yet.
CAS 3 was fine up to about 390, but I was getting lock up issues until I went to 410 and above. I just kicked the CAS to 4 at that time to eliminate any memory-limiting issues.
yeah Cas 3 is not something that will work on the DS3 boards at 400 or above.
don't even try.
the chipset latencies are not going to like you if you do.
and the fact that it BARELY does 1000mhz im sorry to say isnt good enough.
this same ram can run circles around itself on another board like the P5B Dlx, and they are both 965 chipsets.
so what is gigabyte doing wrong??
they are working with asus now so tell them to go and talk to them to find out what to do.
it's also not going to give you any better memory performance since its only 50mhz if even that.
BUT, it will let you get higher on the cpu freq. which is a good thing.
and since we're talking conroe's here, thats what counts most, cpu mhz

Thanks LeStat - like I said i haven't messed with it much yet. Tonight I'll see how far it can go with the 8x or 7x multi, just to see where my wall is with this D9GMH ram....
Be much funner if I had the new beta bios to mess with.....

What are they doing exactly that's breaking the X-Fi? I know you said they fixed it again in the following BIOS, but I'm just curious.Originally Posted by bingo13
