ok so SP 1 is causing freezing in crysis and NFS PS, have tried all the newest drivers from 169.25/28/32/38 to 171.16, can someone run crysis for 30 mins to an hour without freezing, this might be an SLI issue with SP1???? someone test when you get a chance.

For those that don't know, you can get SP1 refresh 2 through windows update... read here http://www.ghacks.net/2008/01/25/win...resh-2-is-out/

You don't end up with a watermark on your desktop.
You don't need to re-activate windows.
    There is no time limit.

It appears to me it's RTM, see picture

anyone notuced any major differences between the preview builds and the final? I have v668 from windows update. I had a wierd black screen issue exiting games, with dual monitors I think it was more of an nvidia issue. There was a evr ffdshow issue too.

There isn't any major user-side noticeable performance gains. Maybe 1-2 FPS in games at most.

Exact same issue here. Glad someone else finally brought it up. Are you talking about the the black screen with the mouse cursor showing but nothing else?

I have the same version that you do. I looked in the registry and it says RTM.

So I presume it's the real deal.

No problems here with crysis and Omega 169.25 on a single gtx 1920x1080. I played for about two hours last night.

171.16 sucked for me, crashed and locked up constantly.

Tossing up wether i download now or just wait. Is there any real performance gains?

The thing i most look forward to is to see file copy performance fixed. Some files (2mb and even 348kb (!)) take forever to finish calculating time.

    Microsoft released this statement today..:

“RC Refresh 2 code is the same as RTM. In final stages of a product Microsoft likes to get as much validation as possible before releasing. The release candidate ended up being a high enough quality to be approved to release to manufacturing.”

-In mid-March, we will release Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Update (in English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese) and to the download center on microsoft.com. Customers who visit Windows Update can choose to install Service Pack 1. If Windows Update determines that the system has one of the drivers we know to be problematic, then Windows Update will not offer SP1. Since we know that some customers may want to update to SP1 anyhow, the download center will allow anyone who wants to install SP1 to do so.
-In mid-April, we will begin delivering Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Vista customers who have chosen to have updates downloaded automatically. That said, any system that Windows Update determines has a driver known to not update successfully will not get SP1 automatically. As updates for these drivers become available, they will be installed automatically by Windows Update, which will unblock these systems from getting Service Pack 1. The result is that more and more systems will automatically get SP1, but only when we are confident they will have a good experience.
-The remaining languages will RTM in April.
guess i'll just wait it out and do one clean sp1 install when it comes out
