It must be because they are not supplying any of its chips to next generation video game consoles, mainly, Nintendo, Sony and or Microsoft. As John Carmack already talked about, AMD has the chance to get close to Intel on the CPU and get far ahead from Nvidia on the GPU due to optimizations.
