Your kind of setup will be similar to the middle orange line which moves from about 1.35gpm to about 1.45gpm on a D5 Vario on setting 5 across all those tops that I tested. So yeah the top only make a small difference in most cases. I did run the AquaComputer top with and without the aqualis top today (though I haven't put the data into excel yet) and that one looks surprisingly poor though I really need to plot it to see where it really lies. To me D5 tops are more about aesthetics, or about using a different tube size.

Tomorrow I'll take the data on the monsoon it's bleeding overnight. The inbuilt LEDs on the monsoon are super cool too.
