Strangely the locked 3,9 ghz was because of powersetting in win7, it was set to 100% CPU. Kinda strange since I can not remember changeing this from when I ran stock/default settings and it fully changed ghz, also alot lower then now. Now it steps down to 3 ghz, its the lowest it gets.

I am still very much wondering about temperature and volt in my setup, if they are normal or not...

Did some more changes to Cxx stepping in Bios, and now the CPU fully clockes down to the normal(?) 1,6ghz when 'idle'

Still hopeing some of you guys can comment on my temps and volt (see a couple posts earlier). Can really need some input on my setup.

Boards seems unnormally slow these days...

    Your temps are fine.

What is slow about your system, can you explain?

I assume this was a fresh install of the OS?

hehehe bad wording. THESE xtremeboards forums are slow these days, my Asus board is not hehe

Ok so temps are normal, thanks. To me its a bit high but I am new to Ivy Bridge, came from Q6600 with alot lower temps at load speed. And as I said I am a bit surprised I can run 3,9 ghz at barely 1 volt.

I tried the TuneUp in Asus tools to 4,6ghz (recommended...rofl), and the temps skyrocketed instantly to over 80 degrees celsius in Intel Extreme testing/tuning tool, so I stoped it and tuned down again hehehe

Ivy Bridge temps looks to be very high and skyrocket within seconds.

BTW Raja; the Asus Fan Controll 2 tool with my board is bugged (latest versjon from Asus site). If I make 2 fan speed profiles and try to swap between them by loading one, one or two of the fans are set at wrong speed. Also the speed-slider-thingy is often set lower then the actual speed and the visual blue bar. Also if I run the update tool, and press connect it gives me a kernal32.dll error, something about not being able to write to a part of the memory(?) I think it is.

Not a bug but a comment; as you know the sensor cpu temp is way off, I am not sure what it register but it is not core temps (neither a medium of the cores), it is alot lower then Aida64 core/CPU temps or Intel tuning tool temps. Also do the Asus suite have a problem/conflict with Aida64?

Any date on updates to the software bundle? Would love it to get better

Temps are generally higher on IB. That's normal, smaller process size, diffierent thermal compound used by Intel as well.

I am assuming you are running the latest UEFI build as well. Which fan headers is this happening on?

The CPU fan temp in AI Suite is Tcase, offset from core temp for fan control. Yes, AIDA and AI Suite don't play well together. Usually best to run one, not both. These two things won't be "patched", so there is no date on an update for them.

Also, your bug above, I would ensure that you are not running AIDA when running the fan control software. They don't play well together. If you still have the profile problems after uninstalling AIDA let me know and tell me which fan headers it is happening on. I will report it back to HQ for a fix. I don't have dates on software patches per se, can take a while AFTER replication at HQ.

Officially, on auto settings for all voltages (excluding Vcore, wich is manual set on 1,210V), VCCIO was 1,160V, VCCSA was 1,260V (too high I think), VPLL 1,81V.

I tried to minimise as low as I can, all voltages, obtaining that results:

What do you think, is OK for 24/7 settings?

    Any other adjusts?

Quick question, any point in enabling spi booster and xtreme tweaking in bios for games/general performance? Couldn't find much about those 2...

No, Xtreme tweaking only helps in 3D mark 01, while SPI Booster makes a very small diff to Super Pi 32M. Not going to do anything for a 24/7 system.

I face same problem with latest bios(es) 1408 and 1604, no chance to modify multiplier.

After flashed to 1604 and clear cmos , even with battery removed for 30 minutes, setted first time to 47X, it works, and I found stability, after that, trying to go upper, if tried 48 or 49, it stuck's at 47..

If I tried to lower multiplier, it works...

Reflashed with older bios(es) tried all 0701 , 0502 , 0402 , 0221, it allows me to play with multiplier, but in bios no shows me option to boot from dvd-rom optical storage, and also selecting during post ,F8, shows me only hard disks for boot option.

After loading windows, optical storage is working properly...

    What's that issue?

With wich software do you flashes your(s) biosses?

Add me to the list of ppl with multi stuck at previous setting when trying to alter it (if there is a list?). It reads correct at post but remains at the previous multi in windows (win7) until I clear cmos and start again. I have to keep using a "Profile" to move on...............Bios 1604, Max5 EX. Tried other bios chip but the same result. Also reinstalled bioses as well.........same result.

    PS
Also, this is the second Win7 installation on the same mbd as well.

I have a small but annoying problem with one of the fans connected to the mobo. I have 5 fans connected to the Extreme mobo, and one of the connectors seems to be haveing some problems. The fan connected to the cha_fan3 is not running on stable rpm, it seems to be changing about 50 rpm more or less all the time, this makes it annoying to listen to because the noise is not constant, it goes up and down. I have tried with 2 different fans, both Corsair SP120 fans. All other fans are also Corsair, and do not have this problem, it is only happening as far as I can hear on the cha_fan3 connector.

I can also inform that I have both the secondary EZ PCI power connectors connected, but I have just one PCI card in use, if that is a factor.

Any idea why this is happening?

Try changing the fan speed and temp settings on that header. You may be on the border of a fan speed change at the temp. If it's not that, the only other thing I can think of is whether you are running multiple polling tools at the same time...

I controll all the fans' speed manually, all are set to a constant rpm.

Can it be related to the nearby EZ connectors that I have connected even I just use one PCI-E card?

Should not be. The input voltage would have to vary quite a bit for the regulator to change the fan speed like that.

Are you using AIDA or any other monitoring tool at the same time as AI Suite? And is this happening just in the OS, or does it happen while you are in UEFI as well?

Yes I am using Aida64 (I cannot on my comp live without vital comp stats on my Logitech keyboard LCD display while I play), but strange it only happens on one fan. I will check this more out when I get home.

    Thanks so far!

If it's happening in the OS only and you have AI Suite plus AIDA monitoring voltages and fan speeds, it could possibly cause the issue you are seeing.

    Did some testing yesterday

There are also som variance in bios, the RPM is not constant, 20-30 rpm variance, but can also be due to bad readings.
Uninstalled Aida64 yesterday and tried only using Asus AI Suite. It looks to be smaller variance (less audiable), but it is as in bios, not constant.
The Fan Control also now loads the correct RPM settings, but the sliders are still bugged (slider is at 0, but fan rpm blue pillar are at correct rpm).
The AI Suite update function (not the bios one, the other one) is still buged, refers to a dll write error when trying to run update.

Not sure what to do, got a few options:
    - set fan speeds in BIOS only, no more controll in Windows
    - get a hardware fan controller

Thing is, I do not want to lose the info I get from Aida64, also for me it is vital to get info in the G15 keybard LCD display.

I had the same problem with a Maximus V Forula from Newegg. It was completely DOA. Of course Newegg replaced it in short order. I have used at least 20 different motherboards over the years, most of which have been Asus, and this never happened before.
The new board will power up only if I do not install the wi-fi daughter board. I am going to try to go the Asus RMA route to replace the daughter board alone.
Asus' quality control seems to be slipping. I don't know if I will keep buying Asus in the future.
