I really have hard time understanding why MS has insisted that you must use metro in Windows 8.... why not make it a selectable option to use metro or the classic start menu style.... that way everyone is happy and tablets and such get the nice touch screen interface. It can't be that hard to do. If you take out metro and bring the classic start menu back i think Windows 8 would be a nice little upgrade... it's no slower than Win 7 and the new task manager and menu styles in the classic explorer menus are pretty good.

What is the net difference in amount of key-strokes to get an app started in win 7/8? Disregarding the possibility of putting shortcuts on the desktop of course....

good to see you like it Sergio.. unfortunately the issue for you is the 600 series drivers

ive been on dev preview since its release in september and the only drivers available for it were w7 drivers until march.. after consumer preview was released nvidia released w8 drivers for the 500 series

never had the stability issues you guys are having.. im surprised nvidia hasnt released w8 drivers for the 600 series at least beta

as for games.. some dont work.. crysis2 works @ dx9

enjoying max payne 3 on w8 release preview works flawlessly

dev was good but release is better and final will be even better just hang there guys for the new drivers

heyyy buddd so long we dont talk, yeah i love the speed of W8 unfortunately MS promised drivers for this week 302. branch but they delayed, yes i read that CRYSIS2 works on DX9 but i couldnt make MP3 it gives me a weird error and i installed it SAME way on W7x64 and works perfect...its kinda hard for me that now i got a 2560x1440 LCD IPS to go back to W7 as W8 has much better IQ on interface

cheers mate and glad to see you here

installer/graphics driver keeps failing to install.. tried thru device manager.. even after restart no go

edit: tried the following and still no go

Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8 CP/RP
You can permanently enable Test Mode () by opening an Elevated Command Prompt and typing the following commands, then rebooting:

    bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

Although if you are one of those that doesnt like change (even if more efficienct) you can go to windows 7 start menu and type the program and boom, there it is. So windows 7 still gives you that choice if you feel you need to waste time typing!

And if you dont like that clunky huge start menu with 2 inch by 2 inch icons in that older windows 8 metro that was designed for tablets, when you upgrade to windows 7 all those clunky large buttons for touch screen are condensed into one button on left, ie much cleaner interface on 7, it is an OS actually designed for a desktop. And all those windows live sign in requirements, microsoft advertisement apps, are gone on 7.

And best of all, no random crashes.

Once you try windows 7, you wont want to go back to 8.

Only confusing thing is why microsoft is numbering their OS's counting backwards but eh.
I waste less time opening device manager by typing in win8 start screen comparing with opening it through the glorious win7 start menu... Tip, sarcasm isn't for everyone, it can make you look like a idiot, like in this case.

"bu-bu-bu-but i can pin it on the win7 start menu, and then it's more accessible"or" I can put a shortcut on the desktop!!"

Yeah... you can do the same with win8.

And condensing everything into one button being something good I lack words to categorize such nonsense.

Newsflash Microsoft isn't forcing anyone to use win8 and win7 isn't going nowhere.

So you got my point. I was simply replying in same tone/manner as your post, since the gui 7vs8 is just personal preference. Some catch on fast...others...

And actually I plan to get windows 8 when it comes out, on a tablet pc for which metro was designed.

I agree 100% Windows 8 as it stands is NOT for me.
IMHO Windows 8 is specifically targeted at those all in one touch screen PC's and tablets. The UI looks a lot like the Nokia Lumina phones and it is so tablet orientated it feels alien to use on a desktop with a mouse and keyboard.
Unless Microsoft do add the option to switch to a Windows 7 style theme within the control panel then I shall be sticking with Windows 7 for the foreseeable future.

Not shure why but i begin to like from Windows 8 GUI with Start8 mod, can only test in VMWare since Win8 keaps crashing if i install to harddrive since there is no new drivers aviable for Win8.

Win8 is eather equally fast or faster than Win7, much more snappy and gives better results in some applications.

Ill check what i can do with INF of 302.71 drivers.

Has anyone installed RocketDock on W8 yet? I'd be curious to see if it works on it. I mostly use it comapared to the taskbar as I like my taskbar empty.

Such a shame, I do not think I'll be upgrading to Win8. Unless there is a way to disable metro styling or until the community comes out with a way to change the interface I'll be sticking to Win7. Win8 interface as others have said and from what I've used with it is a touch type interface... not ideal for mouse usage IMO. Sad too because some of the newer features on the OS is nice and I really like that portion, but if the UI causes headaches, why bother?

I also think the Start button's death is long overdue, it is a tweaked relic from Windows 95. The idea of accessing everything through one menu is archaic, imagine if you applications had a single menu button from which you can choose File, Edit, View, Options, Help, etc. Why have that extra click?
