I believe I read a long way back that silicon wafers are spun, so circular shapes aid the manufacturing process. That was over 10 years ago though and I dont trust my memory from yesterday so take that with a pinch of salt!

My maths has deserted me, how many cpus per 300mm wafer? Wondering if this last 2 or 3 digits thing is off mark .
