The board can access all 80 lanes from the CPUs, but has likely allocated 2 for the Marvell 9230 controller, 4 for the C602 and 2 for the USB 3.0 controller. 80 in total...
I still think we need to wait and see on this. I hear rumor that inside Intel( yes, a pun) that there is talk of "How to allow OC'ing on the 8 cores."
Remember, these arfe Intel's cash cow and they don't want people doing what they did with the low end 5620's to happen again.
They want to sell those expensive as all hell E5-2690's and E5-2687W's..
I can understand that, just good business.
My personal view is they should unlock the top bin and enable the strap on that chip and let us show them what these suckers will really do!
