My R4E is en route and I have a question after consulting the manual.

If I have (2) x16 video cards and (1) OCZ RevoDrive (PCIE SSD) will either of the following configurations work?

    (1) PCIE1 x16, PCIE2 x8, PCIE4 x16 yes = 1st red + 2nd red/grey + 3rd red
    (2) PCIE1 x16, PCIE4 x16, PCIE6 x8 no

    ^ you try it yet?

Ive been on an older bios for a few weeks, just tried 1005 last night. Cant really see any difference yet, they both seem very stable.

Hello friends testing this platform to see how it goes, for now easier to reach 5 Ghz I still need to further tightening. The temperatures are perfect.

    Bios Update.

To be honest, the giga UD5 and 2 have Assassing Bios problems with overclocking.

The Rampage X79, try briefly to the default BIOS and I get to 4.7 Ghz without adjusting anything, I just update the BIOS to the last, and works of caramel candy.

Unfortunately the BIOS on Giga overclokear not leave, they are solving it.

I will try with my other memory kit GSkil PIS 2300 Mhz default, to see if it can scale better timing and more often.

    Sorry for my bad English.

    Greetings.

Ok, here are your scenarios via the handy-dandy PCIe simulator. The first two are fine - Slots 1 & 3 (with the two in between numbered 2a and 2b) for GPUs + PCIe in 2a or b; either one.

The fourth won't work because it makes slot 4 (your 2nd GPU) 8x.

    Hope this helps!

    Hello,
    In everyones opinion,
What is the best Bios for clocking the R4E?

I noticed people were achieving much higher clocks with 2 cores instead of all cores. SO, I tried it! And my results were, I couldnt get nearly as high on 2 as i could on all 6!!
I dont get it, I am speaking of just liquid cooling. I am 8th on HWbot ranking just the 3930k but i noticed the highest guys are using 2 cores. I am wondering if I am missing some setting when you use 2 cores.
I could hit 5.125@ 1.49v with all cores and at 1.51v with just 2 cores at 5.0 was failed boot.

    Thanks.
Any reason to get the 5B bios for normal use?
Is it more stable than the 1005?

try playing with vccsa and vtt, for me the extreme oc profile was a bit high for ambient cooling, also raise cpu pll to 1.7 and make sure to leave pch at auto.

In your situation I doubt you will find much change. I would just use the latest version.

Are you using any of the oc profiles? I havent used them, the board seems to clock good so far without using them, but may be worth a shot.

if benching cold then I usually always use the low current extreme oc, for ambient just plug and play voltages with no profile selected.

less vtt and vccsa helped out a lot.

    less is more sometimes

I have dropped vccsa to 1.05 and seems to do better, but I have been using 1.2vVTT for pretty much evrything, it seemed to work + I thought I read to keep vtt within 300mv of vcore or maybe I read that wrong . Ill try dropping and see if it helps.

your numbers look good my friend, 1.2 vtt is great for ambient cooling, and vccsa is spot on, especially if you can 2400 memory stable on it

Again I would like to stress that

Extreme OC profile was made for sub-ambient cooling
Low Current vs High Current are just start points and made as 2 base points to find the direction to go into (whether CPU likes to go 'high' or 'low'). Not to be seen as an 'eventual' template.
