Amd Officially Benches Bulldozer

Dave, you are quite correct about my frustration. All I really wanted to see from AMD is some honesty about the situation and communication of the delays and the reasons for them. A performance preview (which could have been easily combined with the recent overclocking exposition) would've been greatly appreciated as well. Intel has recently permitted a performance preview of Sandy Bridge EP, making AMD's silence even more frustrating and this silence is indeed the most annoying thing.

AMD is the underdog so they can't do that. Intel has much more marketing power and a much bigger fanboy group that just waits to get something to criticize. It is better to keep silent and let the product speak for it self when it is out

They seem to expect people to continue to wait patiently and without complaint though delay after delay. Although, AMD finally did the recent BD overclocking exposition (sans benchmarks), which was long overdue, they continue to remain silent about almost anything regarding Interlagos' performance or eventual availability. I do understand JF-AMD is in an unenviable position between both worlds, but the total lack of anything official on Interlagos makes me wonder how much effort he has put forward toward getting permission to release something or indeed anything. This, along with the quick denial of any and all unofficial information leaks (which may or may not be completely accurate) suggests an enjoyment of being privy to the knowledge he has about Interlagos. Of course, this is simply my interpretation of the situation, which may indeed be wrong.

Just like every previous platform benchmarks will show up and then people will know exactly what to spend their money on.
All thats required of us is the patience to wait.

I've had a prerelease system here at the house "for some time" now.
It's not assembled and the reason why?
I can't be tempted to leak anything until I see with my own eyes and if I don't build it I can't be tempted to leak anything!
Now how's that for logic for you?

setup, bench, and take screenies
you "accidentally" send them to me in an email.
I put a bunch of random black lines on the screenies

hey hey hey i have a piddly line, you have a nice upload... i have a one megaBIT upload. it takes forever to upload crap.

but my isp does give me a 20 mb download line even though we only pay for 12
maybe that is to make up for the ty ass upload speeds.
I've actually seen up to 30 mb on the download side via a steam update.

I hope bulldozers kills sandy bridge... But considering the silence, I expect the opposite.

If AMD produces something that is similarly fast as sandy bridge or even slightly slower upon release. This will be a crazy marketing fail. AMD doesn't need to be faster than sandy bridge to have a successful product. Just something competitive, with enough marketing, it will have a chip that can atleast stop some people from buying sandy bridge systems until their chips are released.

Considering that SB already offers pretty good price to performance ratio, I imagine a lot of people are comfortable buying SB without knowing Bulldozers performance. AMD needs to give some sort of performance indication(unless the processor performs badly), if they want to stop the momentum of SB.

I am really disappointed with Intel this generation for ignoring the enthusiast and releasing sandy bridge E so late to extend the life of westmere. With no indication of performance from AMD, it is really hard to get excited about their products, especially considering the performance from their product from the last 5 years or so.

AMD needs to slow down the sales of SB and all it would take is some performance info on Bulldozer.

Being silent on the Processor front is not as effective as being silent on the GPU front. ATI/AMD graphic reputation is much stronger and allows for it to be not as aggressive in it release schedule. Considering how little posts are in this thread(compared to other CPU or GPU threads), people are just not that excited about bulldozer.

Yea my excitement of BD has heavily faded at this point, with some performance numbers or something it had been a lot different, at this point it feels like 'ditto'.

LOnger then my? My plan is about 20 performancer stock test, next 20 with OC, some diferent setings with RAMs, CPU-NB, priorities at modules/cores, max validation, max stable OC, max unstable oc...Lol, it will be crazy and maybe must work on it some weeks
