zoson, I got the R3B because the R3E IOH was generally cooking and from what I read it's a really common problem with that board. If it was pressed by finger, temps dropped by 30 degrees C..and if I swapped the TIM, I'd be out of warranty . Well now my R3B IOH runs at 40 degrees, on R3E I had 95 C in BIOS after boot.

I also have a problem now that LinX x64 doesn't stress my CPU at all, but IBT works just fine (other reports in the LinX thread as well). I just gave quick 6 loops of IBT at 4515 MHz HT on at 1.38 V BIOS, 1.4 V reported by CPU-Z, let's see if 20 runs is possible under 1.4.
Changing the TIM does not void your asus warranty. I have replaced the tim on a R3E, watercooled it, had the onboard sound and NIC die, put the stock cooler back on with new tim, and asus accepted it as an RMA no problems.

Have you both tried booting into Diagnostic Mode?
Start -> Run -> msconfig -> click the diagnostic mode button and restart.
