Wouldnt it be great if AMD had planned everything that we have saw in the last few months, and that they were sitting on a MONSTER CPU, lol, that would be something.

You know getting peeps in the community close to AMD to purposefully leave mixed messages, throw crippled ES CPU's at the right people, basically, just laying down a huge thick blanket.

And then BAM, MONSTER CPU DROPS!!

LOL, that would be something, can only dream............

That'd actually be a smart thing for AMD to do if their chip was indeed a monster, delaying it and posting false benches showing crippled scores lulling everyone including Intel into a false sense of security. That'd be a brutal sucker punch.

I still remember being shocked at the 48xx launch when those cards had 800 shaders. These delays don't bode well for AMD this time though.

AMD Bulldozer Breaks CPU Frequency World Record

8.429GHz on liquid Helium. 5GHz on air. High voltage tolerance. Great frequency scaling. No cold bug.

About this OC, keep in mind this is with only one active core. There is still no news about how much it can reach with 4 cores enabled ... and the power needed.

Seems the new Netburst beat the old Netburst, anyway

    World Record Significance

Still, unless you are intimately familiar with subzero overclocking like I am, or you just get excited by new records like I do, you may be asking what a CPU Frequency record matters to Joe Sixpack? Don’t let anyone – or any marketing – fool you. This record isn’t going to change the way you compute daily, it isn’t going to mean you hit 6GHz on air, and it isn’t confirmation of what other benchmark performance we should expect to see from Bulldozer. We’ll be bringing you the benchmark performance, air cooling OC results, as well as more subzero results soon, but you’ll have to stay tuned until we can bring you all of those tests in the not too distant future. All that said, results of “well beyond 5GHz” on air were claimed on cooling solutions priced below the $100 mark!

It says 2 cores, so that would be one "module" enabled. But yea, this is standard for suicide runs. Still impressive, but I would also like to see max with all modules enabled under air, water, phase and ln2.
