Here's my results:

5.0GHz @ 1.45v. 100% stable and the chip stays pretty cool under the new H2O setup. I may attempt to push it higher, but then again I may drop it 4.5GHz @ 1.3v and enjoy even lower temps.





I played BFBC2 for hours this afternoon and it never missed a beat. The system boots at 1.4v, but needs a bump up to 1.45v to pass stability testing.

New GSkill Ripjaws X 1600MHz CL6 should be arriving on Monday. I'm hoping to see something positive after getting rid of these CL9 ADATA gamer series. Benchmarks and more to come later.

Nice chip if I have to say so, are you using LinX with AVX or Prime95 v26.6 for stability testing ?
I believe 4.5Ghz will be great for everyday usage/gaming.. probably very minimal difference even with the 500Mhz more per core as with the games today we are limited by the GPU.


Can anyone make some sort of a hack/mod to allow the phase leds to light up ( full ) w/o having to installs DES.

It passed 20 loops or runs of LinX and sat through 3HRS of Prime95 blend testing. I don't go hardcore on the Prime and LinX testing, but enough that I feel good about it. I gamed last night for hours on those settings and didn't have one hiccup. I lowered the vcore to 1.425 this morning and it seems to be just as stable at the same speeds.

Also, I was reading where some people claim running a PLL of 1.7v to 1.72v actually reduces the vcore needed for stability...in some cases. I haven't tried it yet and it seems like a load of BS to me, just wanted to run it by you guys first.

EDIT: Meant to add that I'm running the F3D BIOS. I couldn't get stable at 5GHz with the F4 version from Giga's website without running a much higher QPI/VTT and slightly bumped VCSSA voltage. I switched to F3D and everything went much smoother.

Whats causing a BSOD 124 in idle but now when gaming?

It's my understanding that a 124 code could be the result of too low or too high VTT voltages. I don't know what yours is set to now, but it's possible it's too high at idle if this information is correct. Under load the system is fine with the VTT you are running, but at idle it's just too much and causes instability.

I have never run into this problem before and I'm honestly just throwing darts here, but it's the only explanation I can come up with.

A lot of people say F3D, have you tried PLL over voltaged enabled? thats how you can boot with higher multies.

I started out using F3D but switched last night to F4 official from Gigabyte. I haven't had any problems with it and seems to run very well. I'm on a B3 board though, and it sounds like yours is pre-B3 which uses a different BIOS set.

Pfft... superpi32M single channel 1067MHz 8-8-8 @ 1.68 no problem but dual channel fails every time. maybe buying another kit of hypers weren't that good...

save your time, run 1866 6-6-5-18 or go for PSC/BBSE.

IMHO the best bios is F3 final

i hate it too but honestly looks like it's the only option if you want play with 3dmark 01.
some days ago i get an UD5, 240 € and it's way worst than this UD4.
with 2 VGAs installed the PCI slots are all inusable (so, can't use the debug PCI card), it is a bit slower in 3dmark 01 and overvolt like hell.
VDIMM at 1.8 volt in bios resulted in 1.95 volt IDLE (desktop 2d) and 2 volt FULL (during nature of 3dmark 01)...this occurs with at least 3 different bios.
don't know, maybe i and my friends have a really bad luck, but these Gigabyte P67 REALLY suck badly.

i had plenty of bad experiences with RE and E8600.
the latest one had CB at -65 and CBB at -30.
i rather prefer da biatch and some ghetto modded graphics card

Yeah, I'm using a non-B3 version of this board with updated F7 bios.

I can't find any option for CPU PLL overvoltage to enable it?

I tried bumping up CPU PLL voltage to 1.9 (1.8 default) with no help, will not post at 50x+ no matter what I try it seems.

You have to use a beta BIOS for CPU PLL overvoltage on B2 board, or flash over to B3 BIOSes and use F4 Final if you don't want to use beta's (You will need to use a beta for the crossflash though)

This might sound silly but can anyone mod the LED's on the Phase led so it always powers on?

Gigabyte has the F5b BIOS out for the UD4-B3. Has anyone tried it? I'm thinking of giving it a shot tonight to see what it does.

all it does is make the board do a cold boot post, if you try to S3 sleep with pll overvoltage, then it resumes that way. (no better than just shutting down windows).

Can anyone tell me which read out point is accurate for Vcore, the points in red or blue? As the blue points give me +0.010v more.

I measured in my red dots, the voltage is slightly higher

1.452v cpuz / digital meter 1.46v
