i miss the days when anand tested the loading of WoW as a benchmark.

you have no idea how important HDD speed is until your game crashes and you have 10 seconds to log back in before a wave of fire crashes over your character and burns him to death (ok maybe i being dramatic, but my character understands the pain)

Anandtech is not really going to post anything new that hasn't been posted at the OCZ forum in regards to the performance of 120 vs 240GB drives.

120GB drives have had AS-SSD numbers on the forum for almost 2 weeks.

I haven't seen anything for the 510 but Anvil posted some Iometer stats for the 320 here

The 320 specs below show that writes rather than reads take the hit with smaller capacity drives. A 40GB 320 has 50% higher 4K random read IOPS specs when compared to a 120GB V3 and that is without compression.

Granted those stats are based on QD 32 not QD1.

Looks like the 4K QD3 RR IOPS and MB/S are almost identical between the 510 128 & V3 120 with the V3 just a tiny bit higher. If I'm reading that right...

    Here's Anand's review of the V3 120.
Look like it's on par with everybody elses 120/128 offerings.... at least the ones that were included in the tests.

Is C300 64/128 slower in 4K QD1? Doubt it... QD1 would be more realistic. Below is QD3 though...

That's 75-85% of desktop IOs. Check out hIOmon thread.

We need new storage benchmark badly! For now it is IOmeter and Ao1's spreadsheet

more to the point, anandtech's review is basically showing the v3 240gb to be the best buy overall, regardless of how average the 120gb version ends up being.

No worries, it's not like we can actually buy any of these products at the moment anyway...

    So..

Over a year and a generation later and low qd performance isn't much better (even slower in some cases).

To the people who are scared to buy because they fear their drive will be obsolete in six months or a year, pick the best drive you can and fire away! You can't wait forever. The speed man, the speed!

    Sad, but true.
This quote is epic from Anand's review :
Random read performance is what suffered the most with the transition from 240GB to 120GB. The 120GB Vertex 3 is slower than the 120GB Corsair Force F120 (SF-1200, similar to the Vertex 2) in our random read test. The Vertex 3 is actually about the same speed as the old Indilinx based Nova V128 here. I'm curious to see how this plays out in our real world tests.

    This is 240GB V3 4K QD3 for reference. Slower than C300.

If they had some reasonable form factor that could fit in a pc case I'd go ACARDs for my next build.

    So the V3 120's are going back/getting sold - do I buy 2 C300 128's? 2 C300 240's? or plop the $1,100 down for the 2 V3 240's. Dead serious.

Not that it matters much, but I got a bit higher than Anand did on his. 43 vs 37

    V3 120 - 4K RR QD3

    My Inidilinx Vertex 1 120 - 4K RR QD3 - LOL not much slower
