Fair enough, thanks for the feedback. I'm starting to come to that conclusion as well as I've never been that far above this fsb on this chip. There's an E8400 I can try this with so will take that home tonight and see what it's got, although they were purchased around the same time so not getting my hopes up too high. I can post at around 625fsb but no hope of entering windoze on it. Thanks for the feedback though.
I also noticed you can't disable multithreading on the E8x00's but on the E4600 I could which left it running just 1 core and allowed me to put more volts into it (managed to still comfortably run up to 1.8v on it).

Whats the max power (wattage) that rev 1.0 UD3P can deliver to cpu? I'm priming 4.5Ghz+ on air and according to Everest chip power consumption peaks at around 220-230W.

IT depends on how cool you keep your vrms - they'll deliver more power when cooler. I had around 250w on my old Q9650 when under load, no special vrm cooling was used, but I did re-mount them with small nuts & bolts rather than push-pins which does help a little.

Yes Andressergio, the USB3P is still going strong and have even run a few decent E4600 benches recently with some resonable success on air. Alas, we have adopted a mum and kitten so my room is not really accessible for loud fans and overclocking right now but plan to go back to it soon, it's just sitting on a bench-board waiting to be thrashed.

E8500 didn't give anything worth mentioning, but I have an E8400 and the old Q9650 which might be worth one final stab. I really want to break the FSB record, and I'm convinced the USB3P could do it with the right chip and some decent NB cooling...

Hey everyone, it's been awhile. Just added a RAID setup to my work PC 3 days ago, now I'm having system lockups/crashes all of a sudden since then. No BSOD, just locks up and restarts. I'm thinking it's an ICH Core thing...how many drives can the standard 1.10v handle? I'm at 4 drives right now. Thanks!

Humm, it's been a while for me but I bet you need about 1.30 on the ICH.

I took it to 1.20 and same thing. Backed my OC down to 10x333 on stock volts, but left RAM at it's rate 1600 MHZ, timings and volts and same thing. I then took RAM down to 1066 at 1.50v and it's been fine since. I wonder if my OCZ RAM is taking a $hit on me. Might have to get some lower volt DDR3 sticks as these are 1.90v. I guess DDR3 doesn't like those higher volts for longevity.

EDIT: Well, it's not the RAM. Turns out it was an ATI Video driver issue. Been running with std VGA drivers since yesterday afternoon and no crashes/reboots since then compared to every half hour. I'll have to roll back to older stable version of ATI.

    Surely you mean 3.8?
2.8 is below stock, isn't it?

Yeah, you should be able to go to about 3.6 without even adding volts.

Hey, do any of you notice line noise coming from your headphones(specifically low impedence ones) with this motherboard? I've been dealing with this for the past couple of years. I have changed my power supply several times; I have been through 3TX750, 2PCPC silencer 750's(helped a little), and TX750V2(same result as silencer). I have also swapped my 88GT for my 86GT and I still notice the same noise. The noise sounds like this, except it bleeds through the auxiliary. I'm at wit's end with this issue and hope to seek enlightnent from one of you :|

@Aleki - never used the onboard audio myself due to these kind of issues but my advice would be to turn off things like C1E and EIST as they cause the VRMs to screech quite a bit. Well shielded and grounded cabling and equipment is important too and even things like fans can add to the noise. Running cables away from other power sources helps, and if you're willing, try clipping some ferrite interference filters around them. Like I say though, an external sound card is by far the best solution, anything that processes the sound away from the cpu is good imo.
I see you're an Antec P180 owner - they help with noise too

Thank you so much In-Fluence. I thought there was something wrong with my MoBo since my MSI board prior to the P45 had no noticeable line noise(although to Gygabyte's defense, I upgraded from my E4300 to the Q9550, which may have something to do with it, when my MSI board croaked)
While we're on it, what do you reccomend for an audio card? My Razer Barracuda AC1 is about as equally crappy as my onboard when it comes to interference; I'm thinking about upgrading my headphone to a Senn HD650, and the Asus Essence STX looks mighty nice considering it is capable of driving 600ohm equipment

PS: I'd like a card that's capable of accepting ~7.1 channels incase I plug my z5300 back in (currently running off headphones to save desk space). I vaguely remember someone saying Asus will have an adapter for the STX enebleing 3+ channel output?

    Thanks again for your help!

That Asus STX seems like quite a nice card, very good signal to noise ratio and looks like good build quality with good quality components. If you're just gaming and playing films then this could be ideal for you. I personally prefer the breakout box solutions as they do all the processing outsde the PC case, but for your use I'm guessing this is adequate and I would assume you wouldn't get as much noise as before.
If you want more inputs and outputs along with a breakout box and top-notch quality, M-Audio and Emu are manufacturers to look out for. M-Audio products are my preference but I've got a nice Emu usb interface too. My Delta 1010 has held out for 10 years very well, plus with things like balanced ins and outs and very low latency ASIO, the noise and performance specs are still up there with today's cards, plus they have continously supported drivers with a tiny footprint unlike a lot of the bloated, rip-off creative s**t that's out these days! The downside with a few of these are that they can cost a bit more, and the multi output models work best when used with mixing desks which then go to your amplifier - so not ideal if you want to keep it simple!
I would take a look on Emu and M-Audio's site and their large product range to see what could suit you, particularly if you want to go for something a bit more high end. The USB interfaces are good quality but also have slightly (although barely noticeable) higher latency. If you have an amplifier with a digital input - 7.1 surround is easy to acheive with a single cable (can be optical or coaxial, or even HDMI), and would also eliminate any noise generated by your PC as the signal isn't converted to 'noise susceptible' analogue until it reaches the amp. There really are a lot of options and avenues you could explore. It depends on how you want everything connected and what you want to use it for. Happy hunting!

Nice work indeed! Give those GSKill PI's a run for their money! (although they're 2GB modules I guess)

Always wondered how the D9's would perform on this board, and like anything else put on ep45 range, it shines! Any hope of getting near an FSB record? I only managed 600 on my E8500, but I think that's the CPU's limit

    Gigabyte EX58A-UD3R F6 : i7 920 D0 4.4GHz 1.4v : 4Gb G.Skill ECO 6-8-6-24 1.54v
    Apogee XT & MCW30 : XSPC Dual 750 w/DDC+18W : RX120 & RX240 : Tygon tubing : Corsair HX 850
    2x750Gb 7200.12 RAID0 : 2x500Gb 7200.12 RAID1 : Samsung DVD-RW : LG BD-R
    Antec P182 with 5 x Noctua NF-P12 & 1 x Akasa Apache
    M-Audio Delta 1010 (Rack) : Behringer Truth B2031A
    XFX 5770 + 8600GTS (physx) : 2x Samsung Syncmaster 710n

    Lappy: Asus C90s & E7500 @3.17GHz w/ 4Gb RAM & top scoring 8600m GT DDR2

The CPU is the limit at first yes

The fisrt sample of that board (vrm explosion lol) gave me a lil 610 max. It becomes tricky around 580...

Only this screen shot for memory, RIP

The one back from RMA isn't able to run over 600 so easely... the chip is maxing at 630 which I reached on T2RS+ (only one shot lol, never again)
