    I'm almost for sure all the new P8P67 Deluxe / Pro / EVO / Sabertooth / P8H67-M EVO / Standard B3 boards will come with 1305 bios and you can not flash back to any other bios as for the B3 Microcode in the new Chipset.

    The 1305 is OK for now , Sure it still needs help but it works fine and all we can do as with any new Tech that hits the market is wait.

    You can get full control of the fans by using SpeedFan, you can even stop the ones connected to the two chassis headers.

    changing Speed01, Speed02, Speed03 in SpeedFan doesn't seem to change fan speeds at all. tried with/without AI Suite II running.

    have you actually tested SpeedFan with this mobo and it works?

    Edit: trying latest beta, maybe this will work

    Edit2: latest beta detects Nuvoton sensor, but fan speed still seems locked to whatever the BIOS or AI Suite has configured. (whether it'd disabled 100% or temp controlled).

    maybe I'm still doing something wrong. in any case, without further going off topic... thanks! I may eventually figure it out. but It seems like Asus has fan controls locked to BIOS/AI software only.

    You need to go in Configure->Advanced->Nuvoton chip and set all PWM Modes to manual.

    Sweet! Thanks! I'll try it out when I'm done stressing. If this lifts the 60% limit on fans, I'll be very happy. I wonder why Asus set lower limits like that? the bios says the number is out of range when you try to set anything lower, and AI Suite II doesn't let you set below 60% either. odd.

    This Nuvoton chip seems to be able to scale the voltage for the fans all the way from 0 (or something very low, all the fans I tried stopped at 0%) to 12V. I believe ASUS deliberately set the minimum to 60% = 7V to make sure no fans will go below their start voltage and stop spinning. Less tech-savvy people (me too if I were one of them) would not be satisfied if they tried to get some silence and ended up cooking up their system because their case fans had shut down.

    Seems that I can control the CPU and CHA headers but not the ones labeled PWR on the Deluxe board. Set all three PWM modes to manual.

    PWR Fan1 isn't connected to the nuvoton chip I believe. it even says in the manual that only CPU fan and Chassis fan are controllable. (1 CPU header, 3 Chassis fan headers)

    Looking for new board, want 4.8 -24/7 for encoding, can i get away with the P8P67 Pro or will the Evo/Deluxe be needed?

    In short, I think pro is fine. 12 phases is still overkill IMO. I only bought the Deluxe because no pro's were in stock. so if you don't need the front panel USB3, get the pro if you can find it.

    This is exactly the behavior I'm seeing with my new board...way lower speed-stepped voltage at default settings. Mine would dip to .85V or maybe a little lower.

    Update on the nuvoton fan controller. manual (and of course automatic) control on CPU_FAN seems not to work at all without a 4-pin fan. speed becomes stuck at 100%. the rest of the CHA_FAN plugs work fine with automatic and manual though. gigabyte's boards have an option to change between "voltage" or "pwm" to avoid this issue, so maybe it's a limitation of the nuvoton chip.

    and after an hour of re-routing fan wires, I discover that the CPU_FAN plug won't even read RPM readings from a single wire. apparently it only reads RPM if ALL the wires are there? What kind of BS is that? so now AI Suite's monitor program can't be used since it complains about CPU Fan 0RPM all the time. very disappointed in Asus. how do you screw up such a simple thing? /end rant

    So exactly what type of 120mmx38mm fan would I need to buy to have the mobo control it's speed per CPU temp?

    4-pin, aka a PWM fan will work perfectly fine. but you could just plug a standard 3pin fan into any of the chassis fan headers, those work fine too but make wire-routing more difficult. (there's one above the PCI-E 1x slot and one at the very bottom of the board. the PWR_FAN plugs aren't controllable)

    disregard my above rant. CPU fan plugged into a CHA_FAN header with single RPM wire going into CPU_FAN works fine. so this is a great workaround for people with a 3-pin CPU fan. my problem was the extension wire I used was grounding into the RPM reporting wire. (poor design)

    Nice Mate 17+ hrs You know for sure that's stable , heck everything well 85% of the Overclocks I've tried fail 2 hrs into prime. I'm close but not quite hit the right set up yet..

    You could also disable the monitoring of the CPU fan in AI Suite to silence the warnings and forgo the extra wire altogether.

    McLaren F1 Thanks for the reply Mate. That's about the same as I used on the recalled board 1.31v straight voltage , I might kick the + offset voltage to the curb for now and go with that again .. Heck I'm trying everything .. Me and Mr. CMOS have become good friends..

    It's use more of a + offset with Regular LLC , Or a Medium LLC with a much Lower + offset voltage as they = all most the same, give a bit higher voltage with the first one, but I'm close.. Nothing more frustrating than keep checking Prime and you think u hit it and 2hrs in it fails.. LMAO But that's life.

    Yeah i see alot of users using the offset with Regular LLC, I have yet to play around with that.
