Why dont you shut down all the sites that are openly talking about this subject on the front page along with entire internet. Dont forget to tell Crytek not to talk about it either.

This thread isn't about piracy in the form of telling people to go download said game. This is NEWS....thats like saying..dont talk about a bank robbery..
the only thing i can see being "shut down" or "deleted" are people playing it, but at the same time its NOT a final build, it isn't for sale and never will be. Its not hurting anything other then giving publicity for the game which is possibly the best thing for it.
But talking about the game/watching video's on youtube and discussing isn't piracy or illegal...just like discussing something you saw on tv that someone did illegally and casting your opinion on it

I would have expected this thread to be closed but apparently its still open. I'll wait for the retail version to hit stores then I'll get it, hopefully the final version will be more optimized but I'm not holding my breathe.

crying about what people do is lame. crying about people talking about a leaked game and getting upset that YOU read the thread and learned about spoilers is lame. calling members at XS lame is lame. Indirectly telling admins/mods to shut this thread down because YOU dont approve is lame. Trying to rebuttal what im saying is also LAME.

i don't blame you that you downloaded and played it, but it's a different thing to talk about that as if it's a totally legit thing to do. and that's exactly what i'm worried about.
developers and publishers more and more use the topic piracy to legitimate everything they do to constrain pc development and everytime there's an outcry from the pc community that this isn't true etc...

now look at you guys in this thread. what are you people doing here? don't you feel dumb to prove the claims and cases of these developers and publishers right over and over again? talking about sawing off the branch you're sitting on.

because i'm part of the XS community. every other community site i visit handles this topic very strictly and a lot of deletion took place.
to cover the leak in a thread/news item is fine, but if people start to post tons of screenshots, configs, walkthroughs etc. i really think it went too far.

i don't want to encourage the mods to start a thread massacre here, it's too late now anyways.

Exactly. It's not just news in this topic anymore, people downloading it, telling others how much fps they get etc etc, the list goes on. Announcing that a game has been pirated is one thing, openly discussing pirated software and actively contributing to the pirating it is a big no no on any forum.

I was surprised when I saw that people were documenting their playing of the beta, personally the fact that the game was leaked reminded me to order it. And I don't really feel like downloading the beta/alpha right now as I don't want to see it like that. Now if it was a game I wasn't that bothered about I would already have downloaded it and proved that it was to myself

And besides it's legal, in the usa to keep copies of stuff you don't own the rights to up to 24hrs.
Unless bush changed that law, I don't know, it was put in place by clinton.

That and if it's not licensed in your country, it's perfectly legal to do whatever you want with it, even sell it as a bootleg.
Hence these days, specifically anime, they tend to license it asap well before they release it in other countries.
Though in this case it's likely already been licensed by the distributer.

Anyways just relax .
The whole reason why it was leaked was to show it off .

I'm just gonna wait it out, since I never played the 1st one.
Not sure if I'll bother with this game or not, depends if I'm bored enough I guess.

im not playing victim to anything. just over hearing about how XS should run its site and how morally wrong this is..dont like it, dont read/post in it. I promise you not one person that disagrees with you, cares what your saying. And apparently neither does any mod...this will get closed but not from whats been going on..but that this thread is way off topic now with people like you wanting to close it. Just read another thread let this thread go in the direction it is/was and if a mod/admin sees unfit, let them close it/delete posts that break the rules.

Last time i checked, which is this morning, is that Crytek is not doing a single thing to stop the spread of beta leak, preventing people from talking about it, posting movies on youtube, or trying to take down all screen shots all over the net.

Why? Because Crytek wants us to talk about it as much as possible. Its saves them $$millions in advertisement. And they get a feedback at the same time, giving them the needed time to make the changes to make the game even better.

Thus by talking about the game, we are doing Crytek a huge favor!

So quit your crying and save your morals for someone who needs it.


p.s. I am going to buy this game, but because there are lot of to do besides killing. You can collect items, like dog tags, and souvenirs and car keys, emails. Its like a treasure hunting while killing everyone on the process. Yeah, now you are pissed cause i spoiled the game for you. You shouldn't have read the thread then.

^ ill also be purchasing this game. I didnt bother with the first two because i played the actual beta mp and didnt care for it at all. So i dl'd the game to test my 8800gtx and core2duo on a 24" lcd and it was doable til the snow then it was constant lag.
This game however looks a lot better as well as seems like will have a more enjoyable MP

why? they are clear about this being a beta version, the final game may not look like this, but for this beta this is relevant data.

gives you an idea what to expect, most likely the big optimizations have already been done, newer drivers tweaks from AMD/NVIDIA can change a few FPS here and there; DX10 (DX11?) mode might change outcome too; but don't think the overall "ranking" will change much.

in a way it kind of makes sense to do a performance review on the beta, once the game is out, there will be another review and more then likely they will compare the numbers, Crytek is claiming that the beta is not optimized, well i guess we will find out when the numbers are out.

This is completely normal in the world of gaming and movies, since many people get their hands in retail copies weeks before the release date.

Crysis 2 beta is different since it was a real leak out of Crytek's offices. It was not mean to be in anyone's hands aside from the developer's.
That makes it even more ironic, because a retail dvd hitting the intertubes is something you can't stop, whereas an internal and unfinished build of your product is something that should never leave the dev boxes inside the office.

Crytek is complaining about piracy in virtually the only case where piracy is not the issue.
