Gigabyte P67a-UD3 vcore drop...

I get a huge vcore drop and I'm pretty sure that's limiting a lot my 2600k overclocking.

I set 1.445V in Bios for 47X 100 Bclk and load line calibration is enabled.

In windows it give 1.42v idle and 1.35v full load

Is it because it's a cheap motherboard and would not have those problem with an UD4 or Asus P8P67 Pro???

maybe you can try latest beta bios and see if it can solve the problem.

It is the way the bios setup, to avoid this problem set ur vcore to normal, use dynamic voltage and LLC to on and u will have minimum vcore drop. Now u r all good to pump up those speed.

Ok not sure if I understand it well. So instead of putting 1.45V in the vcore option I let it to Normal. Dynamic voltage, I have Auto, normal or the choice removing or adding vcore. Load line calibration is already enabled.

So I have to put it in normal and in dynamic vcore I add let say 0.150v?

Yes put normal then + so if ur normal vcore is 1.25 in dynamic voltage u put +0.15. Plz do double check with cpu-z though cause after certain point of adding dynamic voltage i notice in bios my vcore is presume by the bios to be 1.35 instead.

Umm no didn't help, still got some huge vdroop. 1.43V to 1.368V

Same here, latest bios tried every which way

1.42v for 4.4Ghz with vdroop down to 1.32v thats the opposite of what LLC is supposed to do!

I don't want to run my SB 2600K @ 1.48v 24/7 to get 1.38v and 4.8Ghz

Just to say, this only seems to affect the cheapest boards i.e. P67A-DS3, although I have seen one other with similar problem on the MSI P67A-C45

Am sending mine back for a MSI P67A-GD55

what tool you used to check the vcore?
you may use Gigabyte's easytune6 to check if the vcore drops or not.
third party tool like cpuz may not correctly to read the vcore, especially it is for new chipset.

All tools show the vdroop, actually CPuz is useless for GB P67 as it reads the QPI/Vtt voltage rather than the vcore.

I´ve got the same setup as you. Probably not the best batch either. If i set vcore to 1.45 i can boot up to 49x100.3 but when i´m testing with Intel Burn everything stops. Now i´m down to 46x100.3 and still same issue. Easytune shows 1.44vcore , but havent looked at vdrop yet. Will try dynamic voltage when i get home. So for example vcore normal ( check vid ) and then maybe + 0.20. Have tried both F6a and F6b and for me it´s no difference between bioses in OC atleast. Hope newer coming soon.

Check my vdrop now with easytune. At 45x100 and set 1.35vcore in bios it goes down to 1.34 when prime is running. Same vcore but now 46x100 it goes down to 1.32.

Anyway I've sent it back, now have a MSI-P67A-GD55 and its simple and stable, what took me days to test getting to 4.4 stable and never getting to even boot to 4.5 on the GB board, with the MSI I went straight in at 4.5 stable as a rock Prime95 and folding. Now at 4.6 and going up from there.

Wow, interesting to hear about your success switching to the GD55 from UD3P. I was looking at the UD3P, but now I may try my luck with MSI...haven't gone with them since s775.

Ok no problem here are my results:

I have 2 identical rigs (P67a-UD3 + 2600K) and both overclock to the same frequency and the same voltage, and both vdroop a lot.

In bios:

48X 100 bclk
vcore: normal, Dvid + 0.150V (gives 1.46V in Bios monitoring)
C1E,C3/C6 EIST are enabled (it helped a little bit)

so ET6 monitoring while f@h 100% usage

LLC enbled: give 1.404V
LLC Disabled: 1.380V
LLC auto: 1.380V

I can't tell idle voltage on ET6 because on idle it goes at 1.0V because of power saving feature, but in Bios it give 1.46V.

Ok done:

48X100 1.470Vcore in Bios, LLC enabled( just enabled or disabled in UD3) , 1.452V idle/ 1.404V load

LLC disabled 1.452C idle / 1.380V load

Seems like Gigabyte removed all of the BIOS except F3 on the website... any reason for that?

here's a video i made to show droop is ok on this P67A-UD3R

in testing up to 1.55v with wprime ive seen droop go down by up to 0.024v which is pretty good, lower volts say 1.4 it would only droop 0.01v which is great. I didnt see any crazy droop some others mentioned. Im thinking the droop may not be enabled in some of the setups mentioned they droop more (possibly bios not enabling it properly)

for superpi there is no droop at all you get exactly what you set in bios

the board overclocks pretty nice, its responsive, seems to clock ram nice (havent done much testing with this CPU in terms of ram clocks in the past to compare). I can boot into windows with these settings 1123Mhz ram, not too bad . I have to put a CPU i know does certain speeds and timings and then see how hypers go on it. I did a quick test on this board with hypers and had to use 2T with this chip so not sure if its the CPU or bios.




What i need you guys to do please is provide full system spec including bios version on main and backup bios (if not sure copy main to backup bios to latest one you can find) and retest. can you also report bios set (maybe include ET6 voltage tab) and idle and load voltage during wprime for example please.

i suggest doing similar tests as per my video and reporting in this thread so i can show actual tests being done with droop delta with different boards that may still have issues.
