Just started OCing my RIIIE this week, 980x. At 4.7GHz LinX run I started to get wandering erros in PC probe as shown in the picture. I am currently working my way through the thread lloking for siumilar situations.
Does anyone know what might be causing this problem - what can I adjust to resolve - BIOS 1005
Any assistance is appreciated.

@ x-built-Stan ......to much CPU PLL ! ( 1,88x )
Not over than 1,8v. . Over CPU PLL 1,8v. kills the CPU.
The 6core CPU`s run`s better @ CPU PLL 1,55 -1,60v.
And PCIe @ 120 ...Why ?

And you are right about other stuff.
Never mind the PC Probe, it tends to make such mistakes. Use 3rd party SW like RealTemp, HWMonitor, AIDA64 and such.
You might try BIOS 0095 (newest), 0096, or 0011 for Gulftown.
Start by dropping PCI-E to 100-105 and try CPU PLL range of 1.2-1.6V
And, yeah, use updated LinX from Intel 4.5GHz & 5GHz LinX Stable Club. See the GFLOPS rise. And temps BTW.

From my experience, CPU-Z specifically causes problems with PC Probe. Only when both programs are run simultaneously.
Does PC Probe throw errors without CPU-Z running? It was mentioned much earlier in this thread by an Asus support member that there was a conflict between the two programs. A solution was in the works at the time but I guess they haven't found it yet.
@ mahaudi
Try bios 0095 for Bloomfield. Works very well with my 920.

Thanks for the advice donmarkoni. I'm running a 4.806GHz LinX test now. I have 12GBs of memory so it takes forever. Has anyone noticed the relationship between GFlops in LinX and the QPI PLL voltage. the GFlops in LinX go up as the QPI PLL voltage increases. I recorded ~40 GFlops woth QPI PLL of 1.7v vs ~47GFlops @ 1.8v - w/980X
Also, what are the 0095/0096 bios?
CPU: 980X (3032A343) @ 5.022GHz
Motherboard: Asus Rampage III Extreme (X58)
Memory: 3x4GB OCZ DDR3 PC3-17000 2133MHz
GPU: MSI 8800GTX 768MB 610MHz (Testing only)
HDD: 2TB Western Digtial
Cooling: Phase, Single Stage Compressor
Power Supply: Ultra X4 1600W
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit
How do you flash it? Try entering BIOS when booting and flashing from there. Works best for me.
You mean CPU PLL voltage, right? Yes, I noticed it.
GFLOPS is related to other voltages as well, in the way that if you set wrong voltages (too low, or sometimes too high) you will lose performance.
If "error" is small, you will probably pass stress testing, but that's not it, at least does not satisfy me.
CPU PLL 1.65-1.8V voltage range is most useless, so go below it (as you have used range above it).
I don't really understand the question about BIOS'es. Those are latest (0095) and 3rd latest (0096). 1203 is the 2nd latest.

On the ASUS support site for the R3E, the latest listed is 1102. I flashed 1102 and constantly got a CPU OVer Temperature warning. Bios has the CPU temp at 214C - in reality it was -15C. So I flashed the 1005 bios and the over temp warning went away. Are 0095 and the other performance or beta bios?
Thanks

I saw earlier that someone said EIST is marked as SpeedStep in BIOS. I have always had SpeedStep set to Disabled, but when I look on CPU-Tweaker, it says EIST is still ON. I can disable it through CPU-Tweaker, but what combo of settings in BIOS will actually disable EIST properly?

First, be sure your memory can run stable at those settings (I don't doubt, but just to be sure). I would raise memory voltage to 1.65V no matter.
Second, raise IOH voltage, it could be too low for 210MHz BCLK.
Then, I would play with CPU and VTT (QPI/DRAM) if still unstable.
Give it a try and report back.![]()
