I have a topic in the Intel support forum with this question asked as part, but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask in here real quick too.

Is there any reason to buy a 6970 or 6950 over the GTX 570 other than "supporting the underdog?"

Because in this case, I couldn't really care less about the underdog when he's grinding down parts to make heatsinks fit and delivering 3% performance gains.

Don't mean to incite flames or anything, anyone who knows me can tell you that I'm NOT an NV fanboy, and I typically take ATI's side. But I was pretty disappointed with the 6000 series, at least the stuff I've read thus far.
