i would love to see a mutli card comparison as well as a clock for clock comparison. and maybe both.... for example a full multi card setup on X58 OCed as well as a full multi card setup on SB OCed as well. It would also be nice if you had a few other chips around to see how high they can clock on air since you mentioned that this chip was hand picked for OCing, it would be nice to get a better idea of what normal chips can do because what i am seeing so far is that lots of people are hitting walls around 4.7ish and for me a .4ghz clock boost over my current i7 is not enough to make me get one, but a .7ghz increase just might

The Drivers are implemented in a way that NV or AMD can enable QSV the same way they do with Optimum for iGFX on westmere
In Fact, windows automatically give the priority to the discret GFX card if plugged ...

So, it you want QuickSync with a GFX card, talk to NV and AMD , it is all ready in our side.

How about QuickSync with Overclocking? Is my only option to wait 6 months for Z67 motherboard or can it be done with a P67?

Wow so I knew UEFI was coming but didn't think it was going to be out now. That's awesome I'll give them that.

yes about 20% more performance when reqd. i wish someone could benchmark these chips workstation benchmarks (database benchmarks and whatnot) to see actual impact of HT. in which case i'm guess it'll be slightly more.

SB was supposed to have dedicated hardware for video. the benchmarks dont seem to show any dramatic improvements for video encoding.

    any avx benchmarks out yet?

It does look improved, I wonder how much this is due to actual architectural improvements vs using Win 7 over Vista. Win 7 is much better at scheduling for HT cores.

    SB power efficiency review:
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...2-nm,2831.html

What matters for consumers is that Sandy Bridge delivers at least four threads on Core i3 and four real, physical cores with Core i5 into the mainstream, at common price points and with top-notch features. Sure, AMD has been doing this aggressively as well. But with Sandy Bridge, we’re now looking at a performance level that can actually only be matched with six of AMD's Phenom II cores. At the same time, Sandy Bridge also matches the idle power consumption levels that so far were only reached by low-power processors or Atom-based systems. We’re talking about 30 W idle power paired with state-of-the-art quad-core performance.

If you don’t care for power consumption, then you will look at maximum performance per dollar, which remains important. There are great and, more importantly, much more affordable options in AMD’s portfolio. However, power consumption on Sandy Bridge is actually low enough to make even hardcore enthusiasts think twice. Isn’t it cool to have a machine capable running almost 5 GHz on air cooling that can actually switch off the CPU fan when the processor idles?

To unlock the AVX capabilities of the new Intel processors, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is required.

    Also intel's own test:
Yes and 2x faster than intel Bloomfield at the same clock... AVX basically doubles FLOPs as can be seen in Linx test.

And what about P67 mobo's where you have no other choice than to use a discrete card?

Now this should make us all interested in seeing what a 4 module/8 core Bulldozer can do with AVX. The damn things were made to excel with AVX workloads. This is looking like an exciting year for both Intel and AMD.

QuickSynch is running at the speed of the Processor Graphic clock ... if you overclock the GPU, you will get faster encode ...

I will be giving away very soon few little binaries to encode videos, you could use it as a benchmark to see your performance increase due to overclocking
