So 50% more expensive thana 470? Gonna have to be one fast card.
Perplexing that cards are up before reviews. . .
Core i7 920 D0 B-batch (4.1) (Kinda Stable?) | DFI X58 T3eH8 (Fed up with its' issues, may get a new board soon) | Patriot 1600 (9-9-9-24) (for now) | XFX HD 4890 (971/1065) (for now) |
80GB X25-m G2 | WD 640GB | PCP&C 750 | Dell 2408 LCD | NEC 1970GX LCD | Win7 Pro | CoolerMaster ATCS 840 {Modded to reverse-ATX, WC'ing internal}
CPU Loop: MCP655 > HK 3.0 LT > ST 320 (3x Scythe G's) > ST Res >Pump
GPU Loop: MCP655 > MCW-60 > PA160 (1x YL D12SH) > ST Res > BIP 220 (2x YL D12SH) >Pump
Work Rig: Asus x58 P6T Deluxe, i7 950 24x166 1.275v, BIX2/GTZ/D5
3x2048 GSkill pi Black DDR3 1600, Quadro 600
PCPower & Cooling Silencer 750, CM Stacker 810
Game Rig: Asus x58 P6T, i7 970 24x160 1.2v HT on, TRUE120
3x4096 GSkill DDR3 1600, PNY 660ti

AMD Rig: Biostar TA790GX A2+, x4 940 16x200, stock hsf
2x2gb Patriot DDR2 800, PowerColor 4850
Corsair VX450
Ok then...almost 40% more than a 5870, better be one fast card.
But why not compare with a pair of 460's? That would be faster, right? I don't see why a card available in retail at a discounted price can't be compared to a day one release.
I don't care who makes a better card, just the value.
Because price grows exponentially in relation to linear performance increase. Why not wait for reviews and just compare it to cards it directly competes with?
And just like that, all the tags are gone.![]()

The only thing that worried me about the 6970 was the price tag if it was as the rumors suggested " 450$ " then that wouldn't be a very appealing card.
Now this is out of the way, we need some serious benching CFX and all I need to buy new Card/s soon.
Yeah $450 would've been bad, but $370 is nuts. 5870 pricing pre-gouging...
Supposedly Gibbo @ OCUK has already sold more stock of 69xx cards in the few hours he's had it up than all the 570's or maybe it was 580's since their release. Impressive.
I guess price really does matter a lot
yeah yeah.. check out the prices for the 5870... they have yet to drop

Ok guys I have a stupid question and forgive me if I sound like an idiot...
But how do I hook up the card if it has a 6 and 8 pin connector? My PSU only has two 6 pin connectors...(PC P&C 750W)...
Does the card come with some sort of adapter or am I SOL?
