If you choose custom installation you can deselect all of that.

Right, is a simple driver install too much to ask for, not that its hard to deselect the extras but why bloat the install to begin with.

    amen to that! About time!

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

    Agreed.

Why should I have to deselect that junk? Shouldn't be in there to start with.

edit: I dont think its "in there", I think it redirects you to download the bits (except the communication opt-in and similar). Not 100% sure as I've always custom installed and deselected the junk. By default thought it should not be installed.

Since I couldn't find it mentioned.
Does this require a newer version of .net or is it fine with what worked for CCC
I used rt7lite, to remove all the junk in win7 and don't want to waste my time.

    Looks nice though.

Yep, XP won't get the upgrade as the new interface uses Windows Presentation Foundation, which is exclusive to Windows 7 and Vista.

.Net is for lazy devs... easier to learn but has a bloatware feeling. I don't mind small applications based on .Net, but the GUI for a driver being based on it... well, that's when ATi drivers started to have more problems, yet that didn't stop them using "customers" as "beta testers" - as if it was just an "optional application" not a driver for their product.

And as long time ATi users know, ATi never gived a damn about their customers opinions, they just plunged in and keep on going with any decision they made... So, don't know what they're trying to prove now. We know they don't care - ATi drivers devs should kiss the ass of those from hardware projects department whom are behind all ATi cards, cause that was their real success... not drivers....

the driver is not .net, it would be in c# with c/asm (as its a driver), CCC has a .net xmal gui. xmal is one of the least space taking ways to make a skinned gui.

since amd made the new GUI it actually looks usable and it dose not have all that drop down crap that the ccc1 v2 had. it also only takes 20MB closed and 77MB loaded (with the transcoder), so its slimed down alot.

I'm pretty sure there's no way to write the drivers themselves in managed code. They're definitely C(++) based with bits of assembly where needed.

It's just a GUI, it can't really affect stability...

Oh, I didn't know... That sounds nice. I'm waiting for 11.1 to make the jump, the current implementation smells a bit too unofficial to me.

You can run drivers with no CCC whatsoever and everything will work fine. There you go, GUI eliminated. How did that affect stability again?

Actually there is an old alternative called "ATI Tray Tools" - yet even with that there are some problems, but in that case i can't judge the dev - being just 1 person, who really tried something what other that are payed to do that as they job, didn't care...

Hmm, so you really weren't joking, you didn't knew that a GUI could cause problems...nvm then...
