    WTF?
Also, at first sight I would say that this scores do not match the other ones?
    Is a GTX580 2x times more powerfull than a GTX285?

We all have different needs , yours was clearly cheapest crossfire setup , witch is fine no complains here cheap and fast but that does not invalidate my points given nor i was claiming anything against your setup . Its 6970 vs 580. A single GPU preference.

Nvidia has generally better (with all the cash they dumb in game companies TWIMTBP titles ect) yes such company bias is bad but it is what it is and we have to live with it, it can be a bonus if your on such camp nvidia does put more effort in getting certain game features working, you don't see AMD putting such efforts.

    Sponsored Games
As such sponsored games by nvidia eg. Lost Planet 2, Hawx 2 ect. perform substantially better on geforce line. (it might be a bit to early to make this claim as we don't have enough direct 580/480 comparisons only 5870/6970 but looking at LP2 a stock 480 is substantially faster)

    Single GPU Preference
Taking above into account Single GPU performance wise GTX 580 is a fastest you can get. (A bit premature i know but my claim seem logical)

    Extras
PhysX (hopefully it will die and get replaced by something better but for now it is free Candy if you have Geforce no such perk from AMD side)

CUDA (not really relevant to games but those who use programs who support it, know its a nice bonus to have)

3D gaming (currently the only solid platform from nvidia, AMD response is pathetic with so little effort put into it)

    Mutual Abilitys
Multi Display gaming (Need SLI for 3 monitor gaming, this one AMD is one step ahead sorta still need crossfire for acceptable FPS especially with more then 3 monitors)

Both can do SLI/CF (nothing to see here)

*puts on anti troll ear plugs*

LOLL higher heat output .... it barely beats what ati has to offer now ... and you call that a better buy ... get real ...

Why? Of course they can. Dual GF110 with 448 active cores each would certainly do it, without breaking the PCI spec. GTX570 has 480 cores and dual 6 pin.

You have to admit, some of the AMD fanboys, thought it was going to be the fastest chip ever. E.G second coming of r300 and ridiculous performance expectations, 80% faster than a 5870 and 30-40% faster than a gtx 580.

I think AMD will have a good product if they can price this card at 400 dollars. However the under 300 crowd really overshadow anything in the upper range for value from either camp. E.g gtx 470, and 5870(this card particularly).
The 5870 was 100% faster than the 4870 so why is it ridiculous to expect the same with this generation? Ridiculous because you are an AMD fanboy and AMD can do no wrong? 100% faster than the previous generation is par for the course. The norm as they say. What is not normal is naming incremental improvements as a whole new generational shift in graphics card. The 580 is really a 485 or a 490 at best. 5870 should be phased out and be replaced with the 6870. They really did themselves no favours with the naming system as 5970 is a dual card.

To me this is a sign that gpus are tailing off in terms of how much farther they can go. We've seen cpus idle at 3ghz for years. We could be reach the same plateau for gpus, the only real progression is combine multiple gpus together, but as we've seen from cpus you need the software to really take advantage of that and make it perform like one monstrous unit.

All in all I am disappointed it's not beating the 580 and really respect nvidia for pushing the boundaries of SINGLE card gpu. It does mean something to be the fastest. Olympians strive for first, whatever it takes they will do it. Who remembers second. Yet AMD are striving to be second?! all the time? wtf. Here is where they had an opportunity to snatch first yet somehow are happy with second.. Imagine what a sh*tstorm AMD would be in if the 580 was released last year. Then AMD would be a releasing a card 12 months later that is SLOWER than last years card. That's what everyone is thinking.

The only thing that can really save them is sideport. Make 2 become 1. If Antilles is just 2 cayman slapped together without any new tech then just lol.

Well since you asking so nicely. My post one page back at 3021

IMHO GTX 580 is still a better buy if your not dirty poor and compromising to save few bucks.

And you have no idea yet if Antilles will use 2 full Cayman's. So how about you cut the crap, and concentrate on single Cayman, which is whats gonna launched this wednesday, being that Antilles was delayed for Q1 2011, which does NOT imply its January.

Still, we dont know anything untill wednesday, and as many noticed before me. Both 5870 and GTX 480 have made huge improvements just in the driver territory.

I cant say game compatibility differs between the companies.

I belive AMD is putting alot of money in the game industry, its just that when they do it doesnt get a first page article about not optimizing anything (physX) for Nvidia cards as for when Nvidia optimize a game they let out any of the goodies for AMD cards.

Just a sidenote isnt all the games showed during catalyst installation AMD sponsored?

It's not even 2 times faster than GTX260 according to these slides on average, so not sure this is such an awesome marketing...
Probably as fake as it gets...

Sure, and you are not acting like an AMD/ATI fanboi, by shouting to who can hear you that nVIDIA sucks/fails/[insert orgasmic "insult" here], because according to you they wont have a Dual GPU card

yeah, cement your rank as an eternal AMD fanboy with posts like this to people who didn't already know, why don't you?

For all you know, Nvidia can announce the 595 and release it super quickly like it did on GTX 580 - can even be before HD6990.

The fact that we know AMD's "roadmap" and we don't know Nvidia's roadmap means nothing.
