It is indeed a vapor chamber , and i belive its good that they copied what Nvidia proved to be superior of regular heatpipe coolers.

let the world know, now we know why AMD delayed there 69xx series launch, to have the same vapor chamber then nv has

Judging from the look of those pics, I can say that card is at least 30% faster than GTX 580.

I was expecting 6970 to be on par with 580, at worst. The leaks so far indicating that 6970 is not that high on performance. If those leaks are true, then the only card left for AMD to play is to win the performance/dollar battle like they did with 4000 series.

they have done that for the 3000 and 4000 series and would have done that for the 5000 series also if there was some competitions (NOT) and will do the same thing for 6000 series and 7000 series.
You are forgetting the ATI target of manufacturing and deployment idea... smaller/cooler and uber high end stick 2 together on single card.
