Lets say the 6950 ends up slower then the 570. Even if it has 2GB VRAM that doesn't mean it will have the power behind it to actually use it. I'm not worried about a VRAM limitation that much, since I am not running a triple display setup or 2560x1600 screen personally.

    Back to this HD6950 slide:

The articles (exp.) state the card will consume about 140W.
So why does HD6950 needs two 6-pin power connectors?

It is obvious that one is 6-pin power connector enough, like here:

    or here:

If someone can fully answer that I'd agree with the specs in the first slide.

Oh wait nvidia just launched the 570 and the 580. I have to say the 570 is and will be a phenomenal deal.
How about 3850/70 again which is not bad because I am thinking about the 7 series oops I mean the 4800 series all over again.

    I want stock 1.2 ghz core/mem 2gb 512bit gddr3 150w power draw.
    Right now were @ 900/1000 1gb 256bit gddr5 188w.

Would be good if you would post a link to the post where you found that. Than I can have a look or ask him directly.

lower tdp = ocer's dream ... why would that be bad for people who have either a full cover h20 block ... or plan to go ln2 on those cards ???

if they rumors are really true and the card is just a couple % under 580 or on par with them ... and they run at half the tdp wich the powertune thingy on .... it only means that with the people overvolting and ocing like crazy will give them big gains .. wich will make them shine .... its all that i could ask for .. and if its what ends up ... amd really did something great... same 40nm node ... new arch that draws less power ... gets more tesselation for future title .. + big oc headroom ... how can that be bad ????

Because the 6970/6950 have 3 TDPs, idle, normal gaming and max board power.
Idle will probably be around ~20w, normal gaming is 190-200w/140w and max board power is 250w/200w, respectively.

Max board power is the limit put in place for power viruses and overclocking, using the switch.

German is my mother tongue I think he's currently benching AVP, so hopefully he will post the settings later on. Other users were already mentioning that to him as well.

Hmm I am not impressed by the 6970... only thing improved was the tesslation performance and thats not enough to buy me a new card... for most situations my HD5870@950mhz is faster then a default 6970...

I'm gona skip this generation completly and wait for the next in summer, hopefully they are already on 28nm node... this alone should yield better power consumption and better oc capability.

agreed to a certain extent ... not everyone has a 5000 series gpu .... for example .. me still stuck with onboard gpu .. or some are still stuck with gpus from 2 or 3 gen ago .. so its a good upgrade for those people .. but i do agree that its not a proper upgrade if you allready have a 5k gpu ....

but the oc headroom might make the difference ... still waiting for proper reviews to seal the deal ...

that graphs puts HD6950/HD6970 neck and neck with GTX570/GTX580 perf. wise, not bad, but after 1 year and 2 months I was expecting more

According to that slide HD 6970 is about as fast as a GTX 580. Considering GTX 580 is about 15% faster than a GTX 480.
