I've got myself an SR-2 have some problems.
Tested everything on air and it worked fine, now I've put on the EK MB-Water blocks and CPU blocks and keep getting error code 2E and post stops with code 85 which indicates no video.
I've tested with two different GPU's, 5870 and 4350, reseated the CPU's twice and tested with 2 different sets of memory(12 GB HyperX and 12 GB Mushkin). I even tested without GPU but still getting error 2E with sound bibs. I'm also seeing red leds on all the PCI-e lines when I power up, tested with extra power to the PCI-e lanes.
    Here's the setup
    CPU's X5690 ES
Mem 12 GB HyperX and 12 GB Mushkin
    GPU's Radeon 5870 and 4350
PSU Antec 1200 TPQ and Corsair AX 1200
    One SSD and one pump.

I'm going back to the stock MB cooler to night to test if it will boot unless any you guys have a suggestion that will help.

Those red leds on all the PCI-e lines, is OK, they light up when you connect the optional 6-pins power.

Both 2E (initialize output devices) and bibs are suggesting that something is wrong with GPU, as you said, but then changing or moving GPU should solve the problem. Sounds illogical.

    EDIT:
If it has been working on air, maybe the new BM block is putting too much tension and somehow making problems for PCIe-lanes? Try to loosen it up and see how it works. Otherwise going back to air should eliminate this possibility.

OK here's what I've done to nigth:
Put the stock MB cooler back on and tested with three different videocards, two ATI and one Nvidia, two different sets of mem and with just one CPU.Both CPU's now back on air cooling. Got error on post code 2E all the time so looks like RMA time unless som genius comes up with a solution to this problem.

sounds like something went wrong when installing the block.

how many beeps do you get?

have you tried the gpu in other slots? it can boot in any of the 7 slots....

also try a single stick of ram in red slot in bank below CPU0 single cpu in taht socket..... also make sure no pins bent in cpu socket.

do you have 8 pin in for each cpu?

unplug all peripherals from board and run with just board sitting on box or non conductive surface.

Yes something is wrong how and when I don't know, I've installed MB blocks more than once but we can all make mistakes. I've cheked to see if I forgot something or didn't put on all the spacers or if the MB where under any stress due to over tightning screws but everything lokked fine, all screws had there silicon washers and all spacers where in place.

I get four beeps when on post code 2E.

Yes I,ve tried all of them with different GPU's

Tried single stick of ram, one CPU etc

Yes 8 pin for both CPU's

Tried with nothing connetcted even without GPU.

All testing last night where preformed on a box.

hmmm thats strange, I would definitely confirm boards not warping or anything like that.

otherwise check the cpu socket and ensure no bent pins

I checked both sockets for bend pins and tried booting with just one CPU, 0 and 1

Something funny. E-LEET and CPUID HW Monitor (and other monitoring SW too, I guess) are actually showing the CPU#0-temp as CPU#1-temp.

I've been crunching in past 2 days for November-challenge, but then I didn't like the idea that CPU#0 was 5-6'C hotter. So I decided to put a better fan on CPU#0, but in my amusement, the temp on CPU#1 went down.

I have always had better fans on CPU#0, becouse monitoring SWs were fooling, but I've just moved my best fan (Scythe Slip Stream 1600RPM) from CPU#0 to pull from CPU#1 (all 3 other fans are quiet 1200RPM). The core-temp-difference has almost equalized between 2 CPUs after that As seen in the picture blow. BTW may baby has been running really smooth with this settings at 100%-load in almost 48 hours before i stopped it to change fan.

Yeah, It's smashing, If I don't stop it for messing around tough, LOL.

    Just got my new 12GB kit, G.SKILL Trident (3x4GB) 1600MHz 7-8-7-24-2N 1.65V (F3-12800CL7T-12GBTDD), so I had to mess around
    It's on CPU#1, and I used my good old 3x2GB Corsair XMS3 1600 7-7-7-20 on CPU#0.
I may be able to optimize it more after November-challenge, but I'm really happy with this setting for now.
This kit is playing really nice with on SR-2, better than on UD7 (I didn't test throughly on UD7 tho).

Does anyone used the Koolance full cover block for the SR2? If so was it an easy install? I don't like EK motherboard blocks due to awkwardnesss of installing them.

Also has anyone actually found a benefit to a full cover block? As in did it help for a higher blck.

I will be using a pair of E5645's so blck is extremely important.

EDIT: One more thing, how ECC have any real affect on overclocking of the chips? I was thinking about moving to 12-24GB of ECC DDR3 since most of my DDR3 is rather old and slow.

I have never used a MB-block, but I didn't see any effect on BCLK when shaved 4-5'C on SB and NB by rearranging the air-cooling.

Some people seams to be getting better BCLK with WC, but this MB is running cool and stable on air too. Expect that nasty VREG on CPU#0, but you can keep it in shock with fan right on top of it.

The BCLK-limitations seams to be related to 5520-chip, or maybe the current BIOS too. No matter how much you cool the MB, OCing that E5645 with x18-multi will have it's own challenges anyways. If you didn't buy it, and you can, should go for a higher multi.

I don't know much about ECC, but 18GB non-ECC is running fine and stable here. Just got a 3x4GB G.SKILL Trident 1600 CL7 kit, and it's playing nice on this MB.

    EDIT:
Advantage with a MB-block is a cool NB, and then you can push more IOH-voltage, which is important for BCLK-wall on this MB. But the BCLK seams to scale good up to a limit, IOH=~1.375v, not over it. The MB is running cool and stable up to IOH=1.4v on air (i didn't try higher). Pushing IOH over 1.35v couldn't get me any higher BCLK, so I don't know if you can get much help out of MB-block. But as said, I've never tried it.

I haven't went w/ the E5645's but am going w/ a pair of E5649's instead. I am 'ballin on a budget' and am getting the CPU's at a steal of a price. Moving up to higher multiplier CPUs would end up costing me an arm and a leg.

Yeah I know what you mean, all high end CPUs will cost you an arm and a leg today.

E5649 would be much better than E5645, every multi counts we you get BCLK-limitations. That should theoretically do the same as my chips, and could hit even higher with turbo.

These CPUs become a monster together anyways, more cores/sockets is the way to go for more performance, anyways.

I think thats a very smart move..
    12cores at say 19x175 gives you 3325
    at 200 your at 3800
    at 185 your at 3500
That might be a good all round 24/7 speed.
sam will say 200 though cause he's just plain nuts, oops, hardcore!

IMO, ECC ram take one more cycle to check error, most ECC ram speed is rather slow ... Cost a bunch but lower the performance, so not an option in my book lolz

between bios A50, signal tweaking from above, I manage to get another 100MHz, out of the cpu, so I am happy for what I have, although I can not join the bclk 200 club yet
One of those day, I will try again. Thanks for all your help
