Ever thought of the fact that because, as you claim, you owned more ATI cards than Nvidia, you've obviously encountered more issues?
Or how about the fact that a lot of issues people complain about ATI, exist on Nvidia as well?
Ever run Nvidia drivers back when Vista was around? I couldn't go a day without my 8800 Ultra's drivers crashing and forcing a reboot. Switched to the 4870X2 and haven't had that same crash at all on the same rig.
Heck, even Microsoft said that the majority of its driver issues were from... guess who? Nvidia
Frankly, I'd say 85% of the so-called ATI driver issues are common issues that could have been encountered on either ATI or Nvidia, and a good chunk of the claims are pure perception. That is, enough people say "ATI has worse drivers / Nvidia has better drivers" and people start believing it as fact.
Just like microstutter was an issue a couple people brought up, then everyone started believing microstutter as a huge multi-GPU issue, when most people didn't even know what microstutter was! People started throwing graphs out there and videos claiming things were microstutter, when they clearly weren't. Heck, I even heard people on this very forum claim to have microstutter in a single GPU
I'm not saying you haven't had issues, but hearing generalizations from people all the time from forums without anything to back it up (and often, its the user's wrong) annoys me to no end
