Project: Lian-Li P80 & PA140.3

Surprisingly Noiseblockers PK-3 do not work well with Koolance TMS-200 - tach signal goes crazy, they work well only on max (12v)

So, I got 4 more Yate Loon fans - cheaper than 1 Noiseblocker

Immediately started to cut, crimp and sleeve them




this will be the central part in the case, so I did everything with utmost care digital caliper FTW


Did some soldering for the rad, spent 3 days for this thing

Noiseblockers are nice to have as casefans, but I'd never use them on radiators.

NB fans are very good for radiators too and the price comes not at least from their very good support and included cables and accessoires. Besides that, they have own supportthreads in some forums. When a fan is defect, they´ll mostly replace it in less than a week.
So in my opinion the price from their fans is ok. When you don´t need the accesoires, you can go for XL1 or XL2 fans from NB, they costs only ~ 8 €

well, I assume that the build quality of Noiseblockers is better than Yate Loons I got (casing is really well done, silencers and mounts too) and probably have better MTBF than Yates, but there are 3 things:
1. Noiseblockers PK-3 are not quieter (at least I can't notice anything with ear)
2. Noiseblockers PK-3 do not work with Koolance TMS-200. I mean none of 4 I got, so that's not a defect of a single fan. Was the main reason for me.
3. Price. $5.95 vs $24.99. 4 times less

Also I noticed that these PK-3s have strange low frequency vibration if they are not perfecty vertical or blowing downside. Again, all 4 fans have it.

I don't see the point in paying 4 times more (ok, two times more: YL fan + silencer = $12) just for a good case. Plain matte black yates are good too.

Yeah Yates are real nice... they're cheap, but they don't make themselves noticeable, so it's not like you look at it and cringe.

were didt you get the bracket's from to mount the rad in front of the case?

and finally I got this done

first, I filed down rad bracket a bit, to let the cables pass freely (p-clip will be holding them)


then finished and assembled everything








those soft rubber gaskets are from Noiseblockers PK3 kit, atleast some benefit from non-working $25 fans

This build is amazing ! read the whole thread. I want to start building my own WC loop.
But have a noob Question :

Why the fans on your rad, blow away from the rad not into the rad ? and why are they tick not fat fans ?

Just finished my latest build using the same technique for the rad mount in the PC-P80.

No where near as elegantly done as this one, though. Great job so far.

i've have some "problems" with the pk-3 as well. they made a strange noise in the beggining, but i let them roll for a while and the noise was gone afterwards.
i wouldn't use yate loons, at least the 120mm version as they make a very annoying bearing noise that can be heard miles away. (Sleeve bearing version at least)

there are few possible configurations - you can install fans so that they blow (or push) air into the rad, then fans can pull air out of the rad (like I did) and the most powerfull combo - 3 fans on each side, this one called push-pull Pull configuration gives slightly better results in this particular setup, moreover I have fans in the door that push air inside

I just don't have space for thick fans, also I dunno if there are thick 140mm fans

140mm YLs are surprisingly good in terms of noise, I can't hear any annoying noise they are on par with PK3s when it goes to the sound

YL's degrade if they are used in a horizontal position, but are good in vertical spots.

I'm the same as aka_GK, YL 1000rpm fans pulling with the 3 door fans pushing, getting good temps at initial rough overclock settings, need to tweak both OC and Voltage to get to optimum so still a Work in progress.

But I don't have any gfx in the loop just cpus and mobo.

140mm San Ace and I'm sure Delta, EMB, Panaflo etc. produce a similar product.

made some progress yesterday, finished soldering stand off to the koolance splitters
got some missing stuff: flux (Goot paste), solder and torch

doing that for the first time, not everything went well :facepalm:


results are not perfect, but I'm glad I didn't wasted anything those joins will not be visible afterall
