How much does this go down if barts xt proves just a little bit faster than a 5850? The only thing I can see bart xt outperforming a 5870 is in directx 11. It impressive enough if they can get 5850 performance out of a die that is 33% smaller.

The SP difference between 5850 and 6870 is 28%(1440/1120).My speculated calculation had the 20% IPC jump,so much less than what the difference in SP is. With this better efficiency taken into account,Cayman should be a lot faster than Cypress.

Most of the time (almost always) 5850 effectively uses 1152SP (288x4). With the "IPC" thing I don't see Barts XT not overpowering HD5850.

lol gtx580 speculation when we know for sure that cayman actually exists and we will see it really soon. Im sure nvidia werent sitting around twiddling their thumbs but all the specs of the rumored 480 succesor are too unreal and even speculating on them seems so pointless. I expect Cayman to be prolly as fast a 460 sli or a little faster so really 5970 performance territory depending on the price it comes out at should be a good card. Come on somone let us have a peek at some cayman scores I think most are losing interest in 6870 already :P

Specs sound nice, wonder if its true, though I suspect that this card might even be more power hungry than the GTX 480.

I assume the same.. Will have to wait and see.. I do hope that nVidia will pick up the pace with these DX11 cards. AMD just informed that they have shipped more than 25 million DX11 chips.. Wonder how much behind nvidia comes?
