Did you use any primer when you did it SD? And how many coats did you apply. I realize it can't be too thick.

I think you's are kinda crazy spray painting fan blades.. but that's just me i guess

If I was gonna try to change the color of them, i'd probably take them apart, and soak the blades in some dye. It would probably look a lot better (if the dye takes), keep the fan balanced (probably), and won't come off

like 3 no primer using that paint on plastic, IDK, I didnt see any change in fan noise or vibration but I guess you could call me an experienced painter... just be careful to be even.

RIT dye would probably work great, grey is easy enough to work with. I used to use the stuff to dye lacrosse sticks and it was nice but ruined the integrity of the plastic from a lacrosse standpoint - certainly you wont be slamming on people with the fan trying to induce as much bodily harm as possible tho

2/3-layer dying with a color a hotglue pattern mask or electric tape mask and then a black finish coat would look sick, in fact I think I will test it out on one of my currently busted fans (of my own doing).

    EDIT:

heres a pic (example from google ) of what we would do with lax sticks:

If your not very good with a spray can like me. I would think that as long as you took your time and kept the coats light you would probably be ok as far as keeping the blades balanced. It would be when you got hurried and tried some heavy coats and got some runs that I think you would start to see issues.

But doesn't everything go with black.

So let me get this right, you're ok with running hose through your computer full of water to cool thousands of dollars of hardware but don't put spray paint on a $15.00 fan??

Well the Krylon stuff at least says it's "Fusion". I'm no paint expert, which is why I'm curious if what I bought will work

Honestly you would probably be fine with any spray paint but if it's designed for plastic it will look a little better and hold to the plastic for a longer time. That paint is probably the same as the Krylon anyway. Give it a go and paint em up!

There is a difference between form and function. Some of us are obsessed with function while others are obsessed with form. Still others find a reasonable balance. Painting a fan is an obsession with form over function. Way off the deep end for sure. Seek help immediately.

Wow man, that's deep but you're absolutely right! And my therapy is spending way too much money and spending way too much time on a build that I will break down and sell for an upgrade in 3 months anyway!!!!!!

I just think it's not the best way to go about changing the color (which I am fine with gray, a actually like them ). Cause I think over time paint will just look like

Hopefully with the right paint it doesn't. And if it does happen. It's only a loss of looks, and even then - buy some new ones for cheap.

edit* - cheap in comparison to the rest of whats in your computer :P

    e I hope you're wrong for Australia....
I just placed an order with a local retailer & it said they're not in stock...
I assumed that simply means they need to retrieve them from their central warehouse.

I haven't needed any for a while. That has been the biggest downfall of them. Production hasn't really been able to keep up with demand.
