i made another one public
which took a hit in a couple of drive tests....bench is inconsistent
anyways i dont stand a chance with SSDs against acards so im just playing for fun![]()
Good morning,
Another Cascade progress report - I have improved my pcmv score a bit more - now at 38226 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcmv=345375
config -
980x @ 5238 (27x194),
uncore @ 22x,
Dominator GT 2KC7 @ 10x 7-7-6-20-1T.
Gigabyte x58 UD7.
Areca 1231ML-4G
Acard 9010s @ 7xR0 4k stripe
Cooling via an sdumper provided Cascade.
With cpuv @ ~1.78v, I'm having trouble with the pcmv cpu gaming test - huge heat generator overwhelming the evaporator.
I can use the new oc on the fly easytune6 to get around this but it kills the storage system performance, still trying to figure out why.
edit - config info above

no point beating your own records bro
give someone else a poke first............let's start seeing mike pull out the big guns heheh
Mike should have no problem beating what I have so far.
I'm surprised he's let me stay on top as long as he has.
I was trying to make it a little more of a challenge for him![]()
Congrats Steve!! Well done. You've almost got me conviced to start playing this game.....but getting tired of waiting on new Areca 1880.
Thinking LSI 9260 with FP & 4 Vertex 2's.Big $$$, but I'll sneak it past the boss one of these days.

More & more very expensive, quickly obsolete parts!!
@ Expat - FYI - the #4 position in pcmv HOF standings shows as untitled but is actually Mr mbreslin's most excellent 980x with 5xR0 c300's on 9260-8i @ 31252.
Also, Mr Dinos's #5 run @ 29746 - I believe - is 980x/4 SF drives on ich10!
A 980x/9260 with 4 vertex 2's could be a huge player in pcmv.
edit - if you could pick up an open box 1231 and attach 4x vertex 2's - wow - i might be chaising you for the lead![]()

God it is getting harder to wait for G3 intels....this is making me antsy.

Almost 2K points in just one month
The SF based drives are great for pcmv but they do need to be fresh, performance drops on the SF drives just like other drives.
Still, I don't think it is possible to beat your setup using current SSD's, mainly due to the exceptional performance of the Acard's at low QD.
(some new controller with a huge cache might help a bit, however, it does look like the huge cache might disappear, other/new solutions will take over, e.g. CacheCade, MaxIQ, ...)

Hardware:
What sort of storage-oriented tweaks are possible to help improve pcmv scores? For example, can you spread the files it accesses across multiple volumes?

@ ace - There are lots of things you can do to tune for pcmv performance - read this thread, also take a look at the info posted as part of the vantage public scores, also look at tweaking advice found here -

Yes but still 1.8k from 40 and I saw elsewhere that Mike is doing ln2 this weekend - oh well, it was fun while it lasted!
I would think that higher qdepth performance helps in pcmv also - seems like SF drives have it all over acards at higher qdepth.
I thought that combined with 1231 large 4GB cache might be the ticket.
slow down so i can try catch you with SSDs![]()
im getting one so yeah you will see that![]()

Grats steve, looks like 40k is a tough nut to crack.
I've been tempted to grab a 123ml but sheesh I've spent enough this gen.

just testing stripe now but yeah really poor results in HDD tests
