That's his problem, and he didn't think about the consequences therefore HE punished his followers. He could contribute all the info in the world, that doesn't make him immune to consequences. He has a website, look it up and let him know he punished the WC community, not FUGGER, not Massman.....himself.

What I don't understand is why everyone is coming down on you so hard. It's not a matter of not "reporting" the cheating--you went to bed prior to the decision and woke up in the aftermath of the decision. Your nearest opportunity to report this to competition officials (regardless of intent) would be following the submission of the scores.

I seriously don't hold this against you and I don't know what to make of much of the community coming down hard on you. I understand that you were, to some extent, involved. However, you were no more involved than teammates or personal friends. That said, if a player on a team commits a murder, you don't throw the entire team into jail.

I don't know what your intent was regarding reporting this. However, you weren't in the position to report it.

Anyways, regarding prizes. I much prefer when companies support teams by handing out hardware. It works much better when there's a long paper trail that the CPU isn't just one of a thousand binned for a month-long search-for-a-cherry. The guys with more money will unfortunately almost always win.

The smaller prizes, the less tempting.

And honestly; I really really enjoy the events, meeting the people talking about the hobby, teasing eachother, it counts alot more then the prizes....

    I have one question:

Did Vapor actually know that Skinnee had submitted a dodgy score before the $hit hit the fan?

If the answer is no then you guys can stop that section of the witch hunt right away...

This is not the right logic, I think.

It reminds me of this political party (from EU) that said "we should not tolerate beautiful women to wear short skirts in order to give men less temptation to rape them".

It comes down to every individual to step up and be responsible for his or her actions. Don't point to the rules to justify your actions when you know it's regarded as incorrect ...

    The best info I have is this;
Vapor told Skinnee his feelings(negative) on submitting Andre's scores and then went to bed.
When he woke up the investagation had already started.

it's like politics, when there seems to be a groundswell for change, distract the people with insignificant details. like who cares what somebody did 3 events ago, or what is or isn't a hack or legal or even moral. Then let them rant and rave till everyone is sick of everything overclocking...

BUT WE CAN'T LET THSI HAPPEN!

    WE MUST MAKE CHANGE

WE ARE ALL TOGETHER ON THIS,or at least we should be...

the more i think about this the more i think it's time...

#1 time to create a non profit overclocking commission.
#2 time to actually make real rules
#3 make events sanctioned by the commission

and make sure that it isn't run by any of these forums or hwbot, there is to much "good ole boy" mentality there for anything real to happen

I will pay for the commission domain, host it myself for free to make this sport better.,.

Then we hold elections, we should break up the overclocking world into several area's (not sure how many)

then we have a public election for the seats in the commission. Then the commission elects the first president.

Then we need to gater support from the forums, and the manufactures and hwbot...

Then from that point forward we will have a SERIOUS elected group that is only looking out the the overclocker...

you know it;'s time. we don't need anybody permission but we need to to it as a group.

Then if you want to be in overclocking you will need to agree to the rules and regs....

This is how EVERY real sport has started, don't you think it;s time for the effort, or will be be satisified with these MF sessions and no real leadership...

iT WOULD BE nice to know that there are people looking out for the sport and the players.... Who knows this could be the begining of something REAL....

vapor was in a lose-lose situation. There is nothing he could have done short of locking skinnee in a closet for the night in order to stop him from posting that score.

He did nothing in this to warrant dropping himself off staff. Once he said what he thought on the subject to skinnee, and went to sleep, his part was done, its then up to skinnee to either listen or not to listen.

Its called being helpful and respectful of others. He helped skinnee try to qualify before the futuremark problems, he offered his advice on what to do before going to sleep, and then he was respectful enough to let skinnee decide what he wanted to do. No person has the right to make a decision for any other person.

What a sad, unfortunate mess. I bet skinnee feels even worse now with Vapor stepping down. Not saying he doesn't deserve the feelings of guilt, but still. Man...

    i think it affected IQ

i know when dropping mipmap to its lowest setting makes textures look really crummy

i put this onto futuremark, they work hard to build a program used to testing systems, but clearly miss a few things that are not really in the gpu drivers.

would it be hard for the benchmark to force a screenshot to be printed and submitted with the score, that is checked against the ORB and knows when its being modified with things such as reduced mipmap?

EDIT: ok so i quoted someone and now that post is gone?

Better to leave it open and have the discussion in one place until everything is figured out instead of risking a million new flame filled sub-threads.
