If you're not going to overclock the graphics cards, leave them on air. If you're not going above 3.8 on the CPU, leave that on air as well.
That is, unless you just want the looks that watercooling offers... Then go all out.
I have my CPU and GPU on water... but I run my CPU at 4.2 24/7 and my GPU at 1065/1220.
For pre dry ice testing, I'll run my CPU at 4.7 during benchmarks.

Hook your R3E up to a laptop and use RC Poster. I'm willing to bet your board is hanging on "CPU Initial."
If this is true, I have two questions: First, did you previously use a Gigabyte board with this processor? Second, what batch is your processor?
