This looks good, and the OC headroom is impressive. It would be interesting to see some tests on 1GB/256-bit too.

Not impressed. The quest for the overclocked part is a fallacy, gaurnteed clocks are what matter here not potential. For all we know that could be a center cut best bet card or it could be the overall average; at this point we dont know. There have been a number of these cards floating around that people buy for the sake of overclocking only to have the rug pulled out from beneath them.

The HD5850 was hot until we couldn't adjust voltage, same thing with the GTX470. Once the non-ref PCBs hit this card will be a dud just like the other 2 before it.

Even still, going based of what they said a 900mhz 460 @ 192bit only just matched a 600mhz GTX 470. Lets not forget that the 470 with volts does 700-800+ which will wipe the floor with the aftermentioned card.

The only thing I see coming out of this is a price drop on the ATi cards and nothing more. The 460 is an interesting card but I fail to see how its a game changer.

Now if this was the GT212 totally different story but this card is going up against a GTX470 / HD5850. Why in the world would anyone buy this over either two?
    NZXT Tempest | Corsair 1000W

    Intel i7 2500K Corsair H100
    PNY GTX 470 SLi (700 / 1400 / 1731 / 950mv)
    Asus P8Z68-V Pro
    Kingston HyperX PC3-10700 (4x4096MB)(9-9-9-28 @ 1600mhz @ 1.5v)

it is actually going up against the HD5830, and it'll probably be a better buy for the same price, which should force ATI to put the HD5850 at U$250 (or U$260, the MSRP at launch)...

Exactally right, dont get me wrong this is a solid card but this would be the next 9600GT not 8800GT

    yeah
I'm curious about what they could do with the rumoured ''full GF104'' (384 SPs) card

GTX470-like performance or more for ~U$300 would be cool
