    2N doesn't POST too

    I don't know why CPU-Z reports 1T when I put it on 3N in BIOS !

It seems that either R3E is not as good as Gigabyte EX58-EXTREME with Memory or the difference comes from 3N vs 1N and CPU-Z report wrong Command Rate

Have you tried manually setting the timings on the R3E in relation to the exact timings you had with the Gigabyte EX? I notice how on the R3E your timings are tighter, trying loosening them to what the Gigabyte EX had, then put it back to 1N.

    With R3E it wouldn't even POST @ 9-9-9-30-2N !

The only way to boot is with 3N

    I have another question :

I live in Egypt and my brother is coming from the USA next week and I wanted to get Noctua NH-D14 but he can only get whatever exists in Retail stores in Nashville TN , so I found Corsair H50at Best Buy , is it a good option ? will Noctua D14 be much better ?

The H50 still surprises me to this day. I got this for my Dads c2 quad and it cut his temps in half under full load. His temps now are almost as good as my loop. I dont know how it will behave on an overclocked i7 system though. I have no experience with the Noctua either so a comparison I can not do. But if you have two fans in a push-pull configuration the H50 seems to impress most who use it, and its quiet. Its not to expensive to try it anyway... I would ask in the Corsair forums and see if anyone has experience with the H50 on the cpu you plan to use.

    Good luck

I just had a strange experience. For the first time in about 2 months that I have had this board I booted it up only to find that 4 out of 6GB of my RAM was detected. I wasn't too worried as others have reported the same bug, so I tested each stick and slot individually, all worked fine. I then did a cold boot, still 4GB, powered on again, 6GB, and it's working fine again... what the hell?

I decided to go with Noctua NH-D14 with some AC MX-3 (I have MX-2 but not enough)

I just hope FrozenCPU with FedEx will deliver them on Wednesday as they said so I can get them on Friday here in Egypt

I've seen a strange thin today

My PC was off all night and when I woke up I started it and got into BIOS only to see CPU temp 77 C !!!!

I remember seeing - 39 C before for the CPU

    Clearly a BIOS bug

    I have a question :

One of the main reasons that I got the R3E was the PCI-E layout

First I thought it can run @ 16X/16X in Slot 1 / 2 but before getting the board I realized it should run in Slot 1 / 3

I got it with the hope there is a workaround

I only have one HD5870 atm but I do alot of benching with CrossFire and I have a X-Fi XtremeMusic PCI card
and in case I put 2 cards in slot 1 / 3 , the PCI slot will not be available

Why did Asus choose that ?

I dont think that is true, you can still use the slot 2, that is why they have spaced them apart so much, that way other cards will still fit. Look at Slikrig's setup, he has his "I believe" sound card in slot 2 and still running both VGA cards in x16 mode. Correct me if Im wrong but thats why the slots were placed so evenly and far apart, so that every slot could still be used even when using the original stock thick heatsink/fan setup you see on most graphics cards these days.

EDIT: Ok I think Im wrong, maybe the second card will run at x8 when you put a sound card into the slot 2. so it might look like this,

    Slot 1: x16
    Slot 2: x8
    Slot 3: x8
    slot 4: empty

Asus decided this board was going to be there contender to go up against the Classy, so they were not too caring about the PCI-E setup. I personally think they should have found the real estate for a NF200 setup.
