Thanks TMGuN ... BTW ... I have the same Noctua NH-D14 cooler. It was real close to the top of my Corsair RAM with the edge of the cooler, but it fit.

I see from your pics that the Mushkin Redline fits underneath. That's sweet!!

I am looking at getting that very same memory for this build. Are you going to use water for your rig down the road?

I also have the same case but I am looking at different ways to incorporate water using a triple rad and an external/internal reservoir. Wish someone who has this case would post pics if they have this mobo with water cooling as well. If not, then maybe I'll be the first in here to do it.

    Wow

    Thank you very much

    It worked

    It worked

I set it to 3N and it worked just fine but what is that "N" ?

    Is it Command Rate ?

It still says 1T in CPU-Z

But unfortunately ICH / IOH temps are still very high :

    I have a question :

Will Noctua NH-D14 have clearence issues with the OCZ Blade ?

My R3E was running 79°C on the NB at stock clocks, so I removed the heatsink, cleaned off the stock TIM (which is very hard to get off, I had to use nail polish remover) and reapplied TIM using Shin-etsu. Now my NB temps are down to 50°C. You might need to do the same.

1000 year old petrified MX-2 would not be as hard as stock R3E NB/SB TIM.

Seriously. I had to scrape it off with a cut credit card, took 20 minutes

Interesting. The stock TIM on my NB was gray. Folding 24/7 and NB temps are high 50s C. And yes, I'm using the optional heat sink with fan.

Sounds like they are just using what ever TIM they happen to have within reach. Maybe yours was baked on mustard...

No problem mate. Yeah T1-T3 = 1N-3N, not sure why they are named differently but hey. You could always try 2N but I doubt it will work. Maybe even consider 1600MHZ @ C6 - 1N?

Hi everyone, the other day I received my Rampage 3 Extreme. My friend bought it from Newegg ( +359.99 + free shipping) and bring it to me to Turkey. He never opened the box. Today I noticed some scratches on heat sink and some tilted pins. I couldn't test if it works properly since I am waiting for my RAMs to arrive. Also there were no stickers on the box like warranty or any kind that you tear to open box. There are serial no, etc sticker on the side. I am in a doubt that if it is refurbished or smth like that.

I know it doesn't look like to much.
    What do you guys think?

Boot up the board with some lended rams and if it runs fine then keep it, if it's a total POS then RMA it... do you guys look at mainbaord with a microscope to find all these little things ? I've seen brand new motherboards arrive in far worse shape then that with bend heatsinks, snapped off lockers etc...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Take some pics and perhaps contact the store you got it from and enquire. That's what I did a while back. Bad thing is the downtime...

Hey guys, he said his friend purchased it from Newegg and then traveled to Turkey to bring it to him. RMA from turkey to Newegg would be outrageous and probably out of the question for Newegg anyway. He also said he does not see any serial numbers.

@ GTi-6, be sure to call the Asus toll free number TODAY and see if they can help you out. Your only RMA option is directly through Asus now, so you will want to register this board asap, although not necessary (I assume you have the receipt?). If you do not see any serial numbers then you need to call Asus toll free. Since you have a ROG board your tech service "should be" a step up from other product support, I hope, and they should offer you cross-shipping. I would wait until you get your RAM to see if it runs good though and just black magic marker the sink. Also, what pins did you notice are bent?

EDIT: Ok, I see he says he DOES have a serial no on the side, this is good. Register the board for proper warranty, wait for RAMS, test board, and if it does not work call Asus. I bet it runs just fine....

    2N doesn't POST too

    I don't know why CPU-Z reports 1T when I put it on 3N in BIOS !

It seems that either R3E is not as good as Gigabyte EX58-EXTREME with Memory or the difference comes from 3N vs 1N and CPU-Z report wrong Command Rate

Have you tried manually setting the timings on the R3E in relation to the exact timings you had with the Gigabyte EX? I notice how on the R3E your timings are tighter, trying loosening them to what the Gigabyte EX had, then put it back to 1N.

    With R3E it wouldn't even POST @ 9-9-9-30-2N !

The only way to boot is with 3N

    I have another question :

I live in Egypt and my brother is coming from the USA next week and I wanted to get Noctua NH-D14 but he can only get whatever exists in Retail stores in Nashville TN , so I found Corsair H50at Best Buy , is it a good option ? will Noctua D14 be much better ?
