If i remember right i read that some did a parts bin on teh 40 gig and it was just under 400 bucks to make it, and they sell it for that much so losses on that unit cant be too bad and the 80 gig isnt that much more either. ALso cutting more skus will help, things are actually looking pretty good right now in teh PS3 camp. Sony has also stated that they should be able to make a profit off teh ps3 before the end of 08 so thats a good thing. And im oretty sure this is a thread res lol

I agree 100%. You get the gaming console with a Blu-Ray play back unit. The Blu-Ray play only unit lists for approx $250 on its own. And they're starting to come out with some good games - COD4, etc - and there will a lot more in the near future.

I think that it is the best investment going forward. It's playback is at a full 1080p which only the xbox 360 elite can match. The regular 360 is only 1080i.

Firstly your banking on BD winning High-Def war, secondly how come my regular 360 does 1080p but you said it can only do 1080i?

COD4 is also out for the PC and X360 leaving BD drive pretty much the only good thing about PS3.

1. they are not called Canon or Nikon
2. The lense selection is limited and not up to spec with Nikon or Canon. You mean - replace the words "online community" with "live", and "screen name" with "gamer tag", adding 14 year olds with microphones, adding meaningless "achievements" to games to increase their poor replay value to add a sense of non-existing competition, and charge monthly/annually for all of the above?

Instead, how about making your gaming account, into an MMO-esc experience, watch movies at your friends house form your ps3, oh yea, and TYPE WITH A USB KEYBOARD

Not entirely sure, I did read that Sony have recently closed the gap on Microsoft and could possibly take the 2nd place in the console war, not bad for them considering the gap between launches.

There seems to be an ebb and flow to the console wars. Sony was king last gen and they got y this time around. They'll come back during the next gen. The same thing happened to nintendo last gen and look at them now.
