I don't understand why everyone has their panties in a bunch. Everyone can make their own educated decision, I don't know how their is such a strong divide between fanboys. Isn't everyone just looking for the same thing performance? This forum is really taking a turn for the worse with red on green hate and vise versa. Never in the past 6 years of being a member here have I seen this to such an extent

all i mean is if you read his stuff..don't just disregard it because he has been wrong before(because he's also been right before as well)..

the issue here is that nvidia fans(and i just bought an nvidia card and ati literally on Monday) but anyway ..nvidia fans hear his news and usually hate it..whether true or not..of course hes going to make it look as bad as he can

as far as the journalist not being biased or whatever..thats horse caca and every one knows it..everyone has their own opinion and RARELY in any journalism do u find ppl who aren't biased/being paid to make things sound a certain way whether its computers or war or anything etc...

    Some might find this interesting.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm not a reader of Charlie's myself, he's kind of a jackarse. But people need to get a little bit less defensive.

And I made the point that Charlie is notorious for making so many predictions, he is bound to get one of them correct... and for some reason people act as if he is the messiah of the tech world. Just after the 5xxx cards release, I posted up proof showing that he predicted 900sp's, 1400sp's, 1600sp's, 2000sp's, and more. Each in separate news articles on his site. The same goes for most of his Geforce 4xx predictions.

Now that being the case, I take everything the guy writes with a large dose of salt.

I think we all talked to the same AIB rep who quoted those ridiculously low numbers. Basically, the guy is always pissed at something. I won't say who it is but he is someone from one of the smaller AIBs that ALWAYS get shafted at launch.

I suggest you not pay attention to neliz or Charlie in this case since it seems they are quoting from the same "source" who spewed the same crap to everyone. I heard it....heck, 20 other journalists must have heard it as well. It's just certain ones that will post unsubstantiated rumors while most others won't.

Basically, I suggest you wait before making any assumptions about "launch targets" and whatnot. Maybe NVIDIA was spot on. Maybe they weren't.

One way or another things will boil down to two scenarios for certain people who do nothing but try to find controversy:

April 20th comes and there are still cards on the shelves after pre-orders are filled = Fermi isn't selling!!!

April 20th comes and there are no cards to be found = Fermi missed launch targets!!!

Folks, the retail channel isn't nearly so black and white but the little lemmings will always believe what they are told.

The store I work for has ~40 480s and 40 470s due in from EVGA and MSI, so unless our purchaser is a miracle worker I really doubt the validity of this article...

We barely had any 5970s at launch, so this is pretty intense, especially since we're just brick and mortar, no online component...

Are you testing any retail cards. Shamino seemed to suggest retails overclock better.

I don't think that's possible at this point other than the possibility that higher clocks are achieved due to a revised BIOS on the retail cards that modifies fan speeds.

Over the years I've had, and still have Red and Green cards,[my GTX275's are red in color] I like them both, glad both company's compete against one another.
More and more each company has differing strengths and weaknesses, and this is bad for us how?

And I totally don't get the Fanboi mentality, pretty freaking juvenile really. I like what I like, that does not mean everything else sucks. Especially to others, with different needs/opinions.

My GOD! There are now two ofusthat think this way..or is it that many do but the ones that don't are just a little more vocal in their attempts to shout down anyone that disagrees with them?

My attitude is : Buy what you want, it's your money.

    DABS
Yes, all AIB's but only GTX480. GTX470 is in much better supply. Looks like 3x-4x more of them for Monday.

Looking at the DABS ONLY launch availability will be similar to HD5870.
But to get clear picture we will really need to wait 2-4 weeks.

All in all if someone wants GF100 really badly it will be possible to get one in U.K. next week. For price war it's a little too early.

im on this train as well..
i get what fits my needs..i build computers for friends and when i do im never loyal to a brand..i buy what will fit them best
and will continue being this way since both companies do make good products..and BOTH have or will have driver issues here n there

just bought a nvidia card and had it literally a single day and updated the driver and has a problem with SC2 flashing..

im not mad at nvidia nor do i think they make inferior products..cause ive had ati driver issues before as well

things like this happen for either company

Looking at the Dabs site and search for GTX 480, it looks like they only have 2 out of 4 products that have an ETA, and only the Zotec one with due in 1-2 days suggest that Dabs will only be expecting the Zotec on Monday next week, and more from ASUS later in the week.

Assuming the above is correct, 17 GTX480 from just 1 AIB, and I wouldn't call Zotec one of the larger nVidia partners, I think we are more then likely going to see a lot more of the 4xx in the UK from venders like OcUK where no less then 7 different AIB versions of the card showing an ETA of 12th.

100 GTX480 and GTX470 combind allocated for the whole of europe... I don't think so.
