5870 launched 5 months ago today.... green team needs to hurry up. This is absurd. I'm an ati fan (rooting for the underdog), but I still want to see these damn GF100 benchmarks like everyone else. They've been "ramping production" since 2008 seems like.

I think , Sabre just trying to score some hits , because this is the first time i hear about em .Has anyone even checked what they are selling ? Besides having rather healthy Video card section , they have almost nothing else for sale.

I never said i think the specs are correct but since its a starting of GTX480's debut there are bound to be errors in the specs of such sites..

Reviewed By Hibber.J.T.Jibber esq. on 2/21/2010 12:00:00 AM
Tech Level: High understanding aka UberNoob - Ownership: 1 week - 1 month

Pros: Packaging was pretty nice. Came with a free copy of Metro 2033 and Bioshock 2.the delivery guy also had a gtx480 and we rubbed our epeens together in a chorus of slithering slideyness, the only way true nvidia fans can and do. we were in a kind of queer(ginger beer) epeen heaven.
Cons: I came home 2 days after installing into my computer, and found my wife packing her bags, saying she was moving out and taking the GTX480 with her. She said it pleases her in more ways than I would ever know. She packed her bags and took the kids.

Other Thoughts: The house is empty.

By your logic then 5870 should be ~ 113% stronger than 4870, because has 100% more shaders and 13% higher clocks.

Nothing is lineal, lots of other things you can't even imagine enter in the scene and produce different effects. So unless you have some info of benchs from some sources your predictions are baseless.
One thing is for sure, nomatter how bad fermi performs... it will be far better than you are hoping. As for me, I'm beginning to hope ATI starts to remember that videocards need good software to work. Short of an unlikely price collapse, my next card will be ATI.

I haven't seen this much awareness of the delay of a next gen product since I started following hardware some 10 years ago. I find people's hatred towards nvidia a little harsh, but at this point not undeserved.

One thing I can I give credit to nvidia, their marketing department is smarter than their actual production department. They cut the wrong corners and make bad decisions then try to optimize the problems away.

Then the marketing department steps in and brings in the millions.

The only thing correct in that desription is the 'Uses Fermi GF 100 Chip' and the name of the card.

384bit bus means there shouldn't be a 1GB version just 768mb, 1.5GB or 3GB versions. And all those code numbers are flat out of date. As for the bolded part, the less said about that the better.

These guys shouldn't take pre-orders they won't be able to forfill, if they could deliever they'd know how much ram to stick on their bare faced lies.

Quick someone buy the PNY one before they fix the price.

That way by contract they'll have to send you it for 0$

This looks like a hacked site to me, but interesting findings.

    EDIT:
One thing is for sure, the underlaying logic for the site doesn't understand negative price, because it is adding the -$70 savings/discount to the price.
Either the site is hacked by one of these ATi-kids, or those guys are having a really blue Monday hangover.

As a side note, the prices are back to 'normal' (read: totally unacceptable).

GTX 470 will be equal to 5870 or even better.

I don't expect them to be priced too comeptitively unless their performance is truely piss poor ( in terms of the delay in their release and projected performance goals )

They won't be able to do a dual gpu card on 40nm ( with a high cuda core count and clocks ) so for their sake the 480 better sit between the 5870 and 5970 comfortably otherwise at Nvidia. Best theyll be able to muster is a dual card with substantially reduced core count as well as clock speed. What they did with the 295 was acceptable (slight reduction from a full 285, theyd have to castrate a 480 to get 2 gpus running in a 300 watt power envelope )but I wouldn't expect them to do anything like that with the GF100 until a process shrink ( GT200 to GT200b for example ) However since they are so late to the party unless the cards really impress and surprise us by the time they could realistically have a GF100b or what have you, ATI will most likely be ready with their next series making it all an even more difficult situation for Nvidia strategy wise. In summary unless GF100 is the second coming of G80, Nvidia might be in some trouble over the next few quarters.

What Nvidia would want is a 470 slightly above 5870 cost ( lets say 425-449) and a 480 at 549-599 or so. Obviously performance would have to justify it but its what I am personally expecting. Given the lack of early availability however ( all indicators so far point towards this ) if they are worth the cost theyll probaley go for even more due to the demand ( and resulting vendor mark up ) We shall see...

I expect some games will favor GTX 480 "Then 5870/5970" but because they will come under the "TWIMTBP" umbrella. Overall i expect prices to be as Chickenfeed said a bit above the ATi counterparts.

But the fermi is much bigger than cypress and it would be interesting what it can do against the mighty 5970. If they do release some slides in 6 hrs i hope they dont use cheats as they did with 3Dmark and physx that was just not cool...
