So, at least can confirm four fans on one channel start-up and spin just fine (of course, there's no other load on the TMS-200, but doubt that will change things). Now, onto sleeving.

Yeah... the GT's have crazy low power consumption. I had a triple take on the amp draw when finally getting my hands on few.

Have the 2200RPM ones made it out of Asia yet?

Thanks, skinnee. Good to know I'm not losing my mind. I'm amazed at the power consumption ratings on the GTs ... lol - I don't think the higher speed GT's have hit the retail market in the US - least that's what I picked up from the current thread.

I am just so impressed with what these two young gals are doing - they are an inspiration. Jessica (from Australia), and Abby (from California) are doing solo non-stop circumnavigations in small sail boats - and they are only 16 years old! If you haven't already checked out their blogs, I highly recommend them: Jessica, and Abby.

GT 1450rpm is 0.049A each (wow)
GT 1850rpm is 0.083A each (wow again)

so...

4x1450rpm = 0.196A
4x1850rpm = 0.332A

TMS200 each fan/pump header can handle 2A. You're well within.

In fact if my math is correct and the amp figures are correct, you can power up to 24x1850rpm with 1 header. That's unbelievable (and almost certainly not safe)!

I have one question for you guys. How many GTs AP15 can i power on a single header using a Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus ?

I saw one header can give me about 7W, but what about the amp ?

shazza, you might want to double check and take into account the starting current on the GT's. The 1850's are .36A and 1450's are .21A.

Yea i have heard about those two girls, personally i think they are crazy, small sailboat in the ocean is just asking to be eaten by a storm. But i have to give it to them, they've got the "right stuff"

Thank You! I was looking for that info yesterday, but didn't have any luck. So, can I just multiply #fans by start-up Amp per fan to get expected draw on start-up ('lectricity is not my strong point)? I was thinking of splitting the 4 x 1850RPM exhaust fans into 2 x 2s.

@ Pulsar - did you find the link a few pages back on taking the fans apart for painting? Putting them back together was pretty easy - I used two toothpics to fit the snap ring back on the spindle. One bounced up, hit me in the nose, then landed back by the fan (whew).

We had a 15 year old girl here who wanted to do the same thing. Child support and the government decided to intervene (imo they shouldn't have had any say in the matter). In the end the girl was forbidden to go.

So she ran away to somewhere central America . They've found her, but as you can understand, she doesn't really want to come back. Can't blame the poor girl.

Back on topic:

2 GT's per channel would give you 0.76 amps per channel. Almost all fan controllers can handle that *gets a sudden vision of a capacitor exploding*. On second hand, watch out with those Scythe controllers .

Well mine switches between 5v, 7v (or is it 9v?) and 12v and I'll have 12 hooked up to it by the time I'm finished squeezing in all these fans lol

Finally finished a bit of sleeving action:

Don't think I've posted this little gizmo before. I just hate cutting heat shrink - usually cut 50 pieces to get 24 that match up. Stole "The Chopper" from Lou's tools. He uses it to cut balsa and plastics for his RR models:



Didn't have anything convenient to use for my measuring stop, so swiped the glass from a small photo frame. Works great.




Cutting heat shrinks wasn't critical for my radiator lasso, but it will be helpful with the PSU cables. Finished up the radiator fans ... (there is a bit of reflection on the sleeving - had to shoot this inside, since it was nightime. None of the wires show through the sleeving)






Something you might be interested in - saw these at PPCs last week - round SATA data cables. Easier to route through the case than the flat ones. Would be great if the diameter was just a tad smaller - two do fit in the mobo SATA slots (one on top the other), but it is a squeeze.






And since we don't have a dog or cat, I'll share our local Sandhill Crane - one of a pair who come visit several times a day. They must be nesting now, because the male and female alternate. This guy watched me intently through the window as I was working on the fans:

Also quick suggestion for you; I don't know if you have ever sleeved much before, but from the looks of it you are/planning using a lighter to shrink the heatshrink(?) If so please don't! For one it discolors the heatshink. It looks "dirty" is the only way i can discribe it. Get a hobby heat blower. Its the best thing for around $15. Past that your into getting a heat gun that costs $50. Just some words of advice.

The EVGA Micro X58 board is still Sata 2.0 - these are supposedly backwards compatible. Thx for the advice on sleeving - I use a heatgun and a lighter, depending on the task. Lighter mostly for sealing the ends of the sleeve. The lighter was shown for scale on The Chopper board.

Thx, Lu(ky. I really like the BOSCH for straight cuts. I'm not too good at sharp turns with it. I think it will take a mix of tools to get my cutting done.
