[Waterlogged]

OK, so the monitor showed up just before I went to work on Tuesday so I couldn't play with it until I got home.

shazza, I got one with a slightly different housing externally but I'm guessing not much as probably changed on the inside.

I found the left side of the monitor was the weak spot. It has these alignment pins which don't attach to anything.



These clips are on the right side



and they snap into the loops while the other clips here are on the top and bottom.


If you squeeze from top to bottom on the left hand side, it'll pop open a small gap that you can stick a screw driver into, or better yet, a steel I/O slot cover. You should then be able to twist it and pop a few more clips loose. The back snaps onto the front.

Just reporting back that Waterlogged's hint worked wonders. I was able to squeeze, twist, and pull it off*. Only difference is, mine came completely out of the back housing, as there are two additional screws holding the bezel to the "works." No issue to remove those and pop it back in the case (minus bezel). Yay, one problem solved, many left to go. No pics ... been busy practicing my jigsaw skills and more hours re-doing tubing layout and cabling. The Cpt's success with the router has me re-thinking, pondering, puzzling, and in a daze.




*edit - umm, I was speaking about the bezel on the little USB monitor.

Glad to hear it worked out shazza. Don't really think that was a difference, mine has 2 screws holding the screen/PCB to the bezel as well. I just didn't mention it because it was a non issue. . .or, did you try turning the screws the wrong way?. . .. . .*Watches for something resembling a hammer to come flying my way*

hehe ... not this time. Only problem was, I never put the screws for the back casing back in, so the whole innards popped off into my hand - nearly scared me to death.



Whew! Worked all day and virtually got the windows in the side panel done:








Would have taken photos of the window cutting process, but watching me clickin' in Photoshop wouldn't be too exciting. (I did say virtually... )

If only I was a skilled photoshopper, I wouldn't have to build this dang thing at all!

Oops - thanks, Red-5. Didn't mean to mislead you though - I haven't made the window cuts yet. These are just photoshopped, to give me an idea of the layout. Still debating on placement of the display.

that is the look I was going for, although it came out more abstract than I would have liked. Decided to go with the quad in the bottom, so lost the dual rad at the top to maximize airflow. Experimented with the more traditional shorter run from the bottom of the GPU, but it looks bad.

Taking a breather from cutting practice, and working on my fan connections. But first, wanted to double check my math:

Let's say I want to chain all 4 radiator fans to one channel, and I use the Koolance TMS-200 controller: 2A/ 24W per fan channel, with a limitation of 6.5A for the board -

Gentle Typhoon 1450 RPM fans rated @ .049A
--- .049A x 12V = 0.6W per fan
--- 0.6W x 4 daisy-chained fans = 2.4W on one fan channel

This should work, right? What's confusing me is the power ratings on the GTs are so much lower than other fans, just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Nope, their power consumption is pretty low.
You have to remind, the startup consumption is always a few times higher than their operation rating. It really depends on the fan. I don't know the startup consumption of the GT.

Naw I didn't. I briefly looked at it and didn't pay much attention to detail. Anyways good job with the photoshop
