Best driver for Extreme? Haven't been on the hardwares for a long time.

No pb for me. The only thing is to make an usb bootable stick with FAT32 partition, and just let it launch the autoexec.bat.

(There is no "Legacy usb support" in "Integrated peripherals", but this information is on an old tutorial)

Not like you need more 24/7. And for extreme OCing you may as well do some soldering...

    Hi,

I new to XtremeSystems, and a newbie in OC.

    my config : i920(DO) + X58UD5 + 6Gb Gskill Perfect Storm (PC16000) + NH-D14

Currently, I run 4Ghz core(20x200), with 3,2Gh uncore and 7-7-7-20 without LinX errors, with a max temp about 80°C max. (tried 4,2Hz but with errors)

I'd like to run with 4Ghz uncore (I know it's a limit), but I found no solution to let my MB boot... (And I can't find any report of 4000Hz uncore.)

Do someone have succeed such an uclk speed ??? And How ?? (voltages)

    Thanks in advance,

    Welcome to the forums!
And this is a bit too high for air I am afraid. Besides, OCing to 4.2 (21x200) will yield you a bigger performance gain than just OCing the Uncore.

So if it's just a temperature pb, why do my MB is not able to boot ?
I tried really high voltages (1,4 Vcore and 1,515 QPI VTT), but my UD5 won't boot at all...

    (My bios is F10)

Moreover, I beleive an Higher uncore is a Higher memory bandwidth ! As said in this article :
    http://www.pcworld.fr/article/materi...edium=redirect

    Do I'm wrong ?

First of all, you might need lower temperatures than you have now to achieve such high uncore clocks. Secondly, 4GHz is near the limit for the ambient temps, so no wonder it doesn't boot up. And the last point, sure, it helps the memory bandwidth a bit, but getting higher CPU clocks would still give you a bigger performance boost.

You are right zalbard, but with my cpu at 4Ghz, I'm really near of it's limits...
( Edit : Now run 4,2 with more relax timings, and less Vcore... Have to stress it a little more)
Maybe I can reduce my Vcore a little more, in order to limit overheating,

But the thing I don't understand at all, is what's is happening when my MB don't want to boot at all ????
It is just "incompatible" settings (bads or insufficient voltages) ? , do it overheat....

Indeed, I've bought theses PC16000 modules in order to run them at 4Ghz uncore, so I really like to find the way to achieve it....

Moreover, I've found a proof of concept of 4040 Mhz Uclk on i920 C0 with Megahalems (AirCooling) - thanks pr@$r1g !!!
=> Look at the third screen-shoot

Well, keep trying, it's possible if the IMC of your CPU is decent.
Try with some smaller increments perhaps... Try to get to 3600 first.

Of course it's possible, but is it possible for your system - no idea, you will have to find out by yourself.

my understanding is, if you boot from a bootable usb stick you only need flashspi and the bios file, where does the autoexec, bat come into it, if i am wrong tell me,

No, it isn't just an usb stick with the Gigabytes files. I have followed this guide :
    http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm

Then, just copy flashspi, the bios image AND the autoexec.bat on the usb root. After that, just reboot ON your usb stick (configure your bios in order to boot on your usb if it isn't already made)

And things magically happends, the autoexec.bat autoexecutes himself and launch the update.

    Then removeyour stick and restart.

    hope this helps...

Yes of course, it will be a long we Today I realize that running 4Ghz core is really high if I compare it to some i7-975 overclock reviews on aircooling.... So I'm pretty happy of my firsts results for the moment (i7-975 chip is about 1000€ and mine is 5 times cheaper )

But I'll continue trying to increasing my uclk.

    thnks zalbard

    hi
thanks for your response, i followed that guide the other day, cant see the basic win98 files on the usb stick, you also say to put those 3 file on the usb root, is there a difference between root and key and where is this exacty.lol.think i am lost.only files i can see on the usb stick is the bios file and the flashspi.
cheers if you can educate me

You need to find win98 or Dos base files first.
Then you format with the HP tool, by giving the proper directory of the Dos or 98 files.
Once formated, you should see (on e:\ for example if your usb stick is e:\) some files... At this point, you have a "bootable" usb stick.
THEN, you have to copy the 3 gigabytes files on e:\
And you just have to reboot on the usb stick.

I hope i've been more explicit this time

(but in my opinion, the better way to learn such basic things is to learn by himself, just try and test )

Really? What's the problem, I'm finding F10 ok. Needed a touch more vcore than F8, but stable enough.

maybe just me but i get random BSOD/freezez about some stuff ( not any error code) at voltages that should be fine (having dynamic vore to 1.29V, 1.335 VTT, 1,64DIMM on 4ghz)

I think it is dynamic vcore the problem, did you try to disable it?
Also you can try 1.660v DIMM in bios, it will give you 1.648v in real.

    hi dude
I can see those files now, they are hidden files, can see 3 files in total, will put the other files on there as you instructed,
can you advise on the best bios file to use, what is the general consensus here on what is considered to be the best bios update to date,
only want to flash it as i have the multiple boot issue and also the sleepmode where it wont come out of sleep mode when i hit mouse or keyboard, think i know why it does this, lol, is i run the comp at optimised settings,no overclock i dont have boot or sleepmode issues,as soon as i start overclocking they come back, must be able to overclock without these issues, will a bios update solve it,any help would be great and thanx again for your time helping me with the other, you are a star.

    Hi,
I've flashed to F10 (latest stable release) without issues. I think you can try them. You have to know you can switch back to older versions if you want, so don't worry, just try !
About older issues, i've seen on the forum some messages abouts F4 or so... maybe in the first pages of this thread..
The better you can do now is to try do it !!!

    hi Guys
got this 2x2 gb kingston hyperx dual kit, stock speeds are 2133mhz 9-9-9-27, cant get comp to boot with this, currently running 8-8-8-24@1900 mhz. is it a case that the motherboard cant support these speeds, even with cpu at stock speeds i cant run 2133mhz,
obviously if anyone has this motherboard and have done better, would be interested to know your settings, any tips or advice,i know its a dual kit on a triple board, impulse spend, might be a case that the ram is too quick for the board, lol, thanx in advance for any replies.
